False. First day of practice for a lot of schools for cross country is as early as August 12th which usually means kids get there a week ahead of time to set up their houses and apartments. I know from experience.
Most programs may start practices on the 12th but likely will move their team in a day or two before that. Most don't move in a full week, that's a lot of money to pay for meals for an extra week. Maybe that's the case at larger fully funded programs, but for most that's not the case.

Charlotte coach went to Harvard
I didn't say they mandate coming back a week early. I'm saying that's what kids do, yes, on their own dime. At these "bigger school" that were talking about with open positions right now, that is most certainly the case. Kids are showing up in Charlotte, Boston, Williamsburg and Auburn with no official announcement for a coach yet. Don't try to be a jerk and nitpick, it's not a good look.
August 4th is 8 days from August 12th. More than a week. Wrong again.
No announcements but Charlotte, Auburn, and W&M have been offered. Northeastern is just distance asst. They don't need to rush.

I think Northeastern is more than an assistant. Rinker was reportedly in charge of the men, unless they are changing the coaching structure there.

In the grand scheme of things having the XC kids do their summer programs for an extra week or two is meaningless compared to finding the best coach to lead them for years. Who cares...find the best coach
Anybody heard any word on the Portland State Head Coach position. They have only had the two full-time assistants and a couple of volunteers listed on the website for the past 6 weeks or so...not that it is a great position, I think there have been at least 5 head coaches in the past 10ish years, and even more assistant coach turn over. They don't seem to be able to get any momentum with so much movement, which is sad for the athletes in Oregon because it eliminates a D-I option by nature of just being a program that doesn't get any attention because they are basement dwellers 100% of the time. I am a local 6A head coach and would love to be able to send talented kids there who want a local option, in good faith, but man, it just seems like they never have enough stability to make that recommendation. The biggest news that is always coming out of that program are the elite level volunteers that seem to hang around, Webb, Flanagan, Quigley, etc. Anyone heard anything. The job was listed, and had an application review date way back on July 17th.

I'm assuming you're just speaking of the W&M head xc coach position, but not the mike henderson vacated assistant position.

It looks like they got hustled too. Assistance coach just posted the position on twitter and seems like he had no idea Gilreath was leaving. Good for her, heading to her home state and enjoying some not Terre Haute weather. No clue who the Sycamores will replace her with, not many around with her credentials.
