Iran is funding Hamas. This is the real regime that needs to collapse. Better there be a regional war now before Iran gets nukes and will have no qualms to unleash a real massacre of innocents on American soil.
People who were 3 years old in 1945 didn't live through the Holocaust in any meaningful way either.
Regardless, a tiny of fraction of any group will sign up for anything.
No one who claims Israel and Hamas are morally equivalent, let alone that Israel is the greater evil is worth listening to even if they have numbers on their arm.
This war will unfortunately never end. I don't really pay attention to the news anymore, but I feel for the innocents on both sides that did nothing to deserve this fate. Those are the people we should help - not the terrorist organization that is Hamas, so people campaigning on behalf of Palestinians (who are no ethnically different than the Jordanians) need to distinguish between the two. End of story.
Problem is, how do you separate the "wheat from the chaff" so to say? You really can't, and Israel has every right to defend their territory given that they've been attacked three times since the UN declaration allowing them to return to their homeland, including continuous attacks by Hamas today. Even if you disagree with the fact that it's their homeland (which is hard - there's clear proof that Jews have been in that area since 1000 BCE and were conquered and displaced by several empires including the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans, etc), the fact remains that the land was under British rule at the time of 1948, and they. along with the UN awarded it to Israel, and that's that. If we deny that fact, then might as well return Canada and the United States back to the First Nations. That's the way it works unfortunately - if you win a war, you get the right to the land, and you may choose to return it if you'd like (British colonialism and subsequent independence movements granted by the British across the world - commonwealth countries) if the landowners don't' fight for it and win it back (see the creation of the USA). We can't go back in history especially when this much time has passed. It would be a different story if it was the 1950s, but that time is long gone. We can only go forward from here and figure out a way to help those who have been affected by the damage (scholarships, land acknowledgements, etc). Moreover, we need more democracies in the world anyway, as that's the most valuable form of government, not dictatorships.
Really the only solution would be for the neighboring Islamic countries to take in the Palestinian Muslims (Egypt, Jordan, etc), and they know this. There are Palestinian Christians as well, but I highly doubt they are the ones participating in the rabble rousing. And of course, Palestinian Jews have already been welcomed in the modern state of Israel. However, these neighboring countries refuse to do so knowing the trouble the Palestinians could cause. Europe and the US/Canada have taken in enough refugees already, it's time for these neighboring countries to step it up. Especially as there was no Jordan/Palestine ethnic distinction before the Levantine land was divided up - ethnically these people are the same. I would 100% support the government help fund such an effort. Unfortunately, last time this was tried, Palestinians caused a riot in Jordan...so I mean, really not much else you can do. There's a reason the Jordanian King said: "There will be no refugees in Jordan and no refugees in Egypt." If they don't agree, there's nothing that can be done.

If you weren't stupid you'd comprehend that a 3 year old who survived Auschwitz and a 3 year old who survived Disney World would have exactly the same memories of the experience.

How about Israel stops genociding people and allows them to get their home and land back and we have one state where all people have equal rights?

That is straight up fkn stupid... how about there is no regional war. Fixed it

Welcome to #MAG^!! Not sure the Big Dog himself could've said it any better.

Your math is off. That’s the point. Could give you a clue but why bother.

Israel shouldn’t be genociding and Hamas shouldn’t be doing surprise attacks such as the one on October 7. Simple as that.
As for the creation of one state, that’s simply not tenable. Remember, in 1948 the original proposal was two states - one for the Jews and one for the Palestinians, which was rejected by the neighbouring Arab countries who then attacked Israel 3 times and lost all three times, including the 6 day war. The minute a “one state solution” is adopted, Israel will be attacked again by all the Arab countries and its game over for them. So they aren’t going anywhere.
In war, if you win, you have the right to the land. Israel beat Egypt and all the Arab countries , so they have that right to the land. If we abandon that principle, I hope all North Americans are prepared to sign over their houses back to the First Nations instead of just doing land acknowledgements. Aside from that, the British and UN awarded Israel that land, end of story as the land was under British rule at the time, so they had the right to do so.
Ask yourself this: why aren’t any of the surrounding Arab countries taking in refugees such as the Jordanians and Egyptians, instead of building walls themselves around the Gaza Strip they share a border with? And why aren’t they fighting Israel? Because they too do not want Palestine there. They would rather deal with Israel than the rabble-rouser Palestinians unfortunately. The only effort I would support is giving some of these Palestinians scholarships and aid so they can better their lives, go to university, etc, just like we do with the First Nations here in North America. That’s fine. But we can’t go back in history now - too many years have passed. If it was a few years after the decision in say the early 1950s, we could have that discussion and continue to dialogue, but the surrounding Arab countries didn’t want to and instead fought. Israel won and established legitimacy. End of story.

Good post. I agree we can't go back in history now but we can't ignore history as a catalyst for current decisions. If that were the case, Israel would consider the terrorist attack water under the bridge and wouldn't retaliate because this does not represent a mass scale threat to Israel's existence. It's not like they are fully blockaded right now, with no power, food, water, or way to leave while bombs are raining down on them and a sophisticated military is ready to invade.
I agree that if you win land in a war it's settled business. Israel is legitimate. The problem with that of course is you get stuck with what you break, and that is what the Arab states are telling Israel now. Blaming them for Palestinian suffering is just a ridiculous stretch. What I keep warning against though is this - Israel will escalate this conflict enough to attract more enemies to it's land. It should be prepared for those losses, and new much bigger terror that comes its way will be justified because it drew major blood in Palestine. You all should be ready to blame Israel for that like you are blaming Hamas now for what's happening in Palestine. That's why a wiser move would have been a proportional or slightly bigger retaliation. Right now they are inflicting massive losses on Palestine, which they have decided is the enemy here based on their actions.

Joe Biden was barely 3 years old in 1945. He has no idea what day it is today.
The oldest living Holocaust survivor is 102 today and was 24 in 1945.
I didn't do whatever math your so excited about because it's irrelevant.
Trotting out a handful of Holocaust survivors who were children at the time isn't persuasive to anyone but the same idiots who think executing babies in their cribs is morally equivalent to killing babies that Hamas hides behind while launching rockets at Israeli pre-schools.
Many details of what transpired on October 7 continue to be shrouded in mystery, including how the 1,400 Israelis who died were killed. A growing number of reports indicate the Israeli military was responsible for civilian an...
