U.S. retail sales recorded their largest gain in 1-1/2 years in March, in the latest sign the economy was emerging from its weather-induced slumber and on track to accelerate in the second quarter.
The Commerce Department said on Monday retail sales increased 1.1 percent last month, the biggest rise since September 2012, as receipts rose in nearly all categories.
I sold everything during last week's sell off. How high should I let the market go before buying back into it?

Meanwhile, back to the stock market, I saw this today.
Basically, it's a study that found when the stock market is down year to date through Easter, it averages a -2% loss for the year.
The SP500 was at 1848 on Dec31, while the DJIA was at 16576. The SPX is still within striking distance of a positive by Easter. It's trading at 1833 as I type this.
so I am back at even on my gold investment. Should I sell and get my money back? It's sort of twisting my head around rooting for gold to rise.
I suppose I'll just stick with the 200 day rule with the 1% wiggle room.
Proud not to lose money on my gold investment.

honestly I don't really know what you are talking about. I try to ignore anything from "pointing out the obvious" or POTO because of that weird back and forth thing that sounds like one guy having a convo with himself.

It depends on your risk tolerance.
GDX at 24.60 has an upside of 30-ish in 2014, or about 20% upside. The SPX would have to reach 2200 for a 20% return. I don't see a remote chance of the SPX hitting 2200 in 2014. OTOH, downside is about 20 for GDX. The Fed will step in to reverse tapering before the SPX drops that much.
So gold is going to be more volatile... no surprise there.
