I would stake any amount of money on no fuss Mellor giving him a good headstart and still cruising past with a mile to go.
He has run a big PB over 10k this year and his training in Mills is going great,that's one hilly place he runs in.
Sunday: HM race with 2.5mi up and 2.5mi down. Doubled back for another easy 10k
Monday: Easy 12.4mi
Tuesday: Double threshold (26.3mi total)
Wednesday: Easy 15mi, Easy 6.8mi
Thursday: Easy 10.6mi
Friday: Easy 10mi
Saturday: 5k race (11.2mi total)
Sunday: 26.2mi long run with 7k/6k/5k/4k/3k/2k/1k @ Marathon effort with 1k easy
I guess it's just the double threshold I can't imagine. It's not the craziest thing to do a hard long run the day after a 5k but how does he not take more recovery after his HM? Why not schedule the double threshold for Thursday? I guess it's working for him though.

Are you actually being serious? I feel like you are as you keep doubling down. Jonny Mellor (and Dan Nash for that matter) are international class athletes who ran the 4th and 8th fastest UK marathon times last year. They are on another planet compared to Ben is Running and most other YouTubers and no amount of altitude training, Ketone IQ, pure sport roll on, Normatec boots, EPO, Maurten bicarb, Soar running gear, double threshold, AG1 etc. is going to change that.
