Does this finally sink Chicago State? Only coach on staff leaves the week Cross season kicks off.
Admin won't care. Just stick some academic adviser or basketball film guy in there to take 5 random athletes to 5 local meets by conference and pat themselves on the back for "sponsoring" the sport.

So does that guy, like, have to sign a statement that he believes the earth is 6000 years old, we all came from a literal Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden & God sent a world wide flood to wipe out humanity save Noah and his family? Like, literal bible stuff? I know you do at many smaller evangelical schools but always wondered about Liberty...

I mean, many of us get that light handed bashing of Christian’s is trendy, but the earth being “6000 years old”, is a Jewish construct and celebration.

This is a ridiculously narrow take. Joe Vigil, Mark Wetmore, Jack Daniels, Gags, Sevene were all non-elite or non-runners and have done just fine.
Did you read the post? And if yes...Read it again!
I never said or implied that in order to be a successful coach you MUST have been a successful athlete. The coaches you mentioned are great! My point being, having a background competing at the elite level only enhances your credibility. Does it guarantee you will be a great coach? No!, but you can't argue that it works against you. Combine world class experience with the ability to communicate and teach and your in good shape. Again I ask, who would you rather be coached by?
I'm not trying to win an argument here, just using common sense.

I'll argue that it can work against you.
Elite athletes, assuming nothing else about how much they sought out training knowledge, know exactly 1 way that produced a great runner -- Themselves. Knowing how to make one absurd outlier better doesn't translate to your merely good athletes every time.
How many athletes could have trained exactly like Bernard Lagat and actually become Bernard Lagat? What about Cam Levins and his 160 mile weeks? Seb Coe and his 5 zone training that doesn't really have a record of repeated success.
Extreme outlier athletes will improve from anything as long as it is challenging enough and you aren't getting them hurt. My first few years of coaching had some garbage training plans, but no surprise, my talented kids improved and my developing athletes struggled.
I don't think all elites are like this. But I guarantee, some elite athletes will just copy and paste their training and wonder why mere mortals aren't responding to it. If they don't learn to adapt they will always be great runners that became poor coaches.

I'm not saying all "Christians" do...but obviously there are certain Christian sects. I remember applying for a position at Lipscomb some years ago that required some sort of "the bible is the literal truth" oath. Just curious if Liberty was one of them...they seem to be the type...
