Always self destructive. From unreasonable personal expectations and not being able to deal with or taught to deal with failure. Parents? Traumatic event at a young age that lowered personal sense of value to self or others? At some point, she just caved in to what others thought about her, tried it and thought it was ok. Maybe even liked the escape from reality and doesn't consider the consequences or impacts on those that care about her. Escort life gave her a sense of self control. She calls the shots there.
C'mon, listen to any interview with her over the last 15 years or more. She's half nuts when she talks anyway. When I first saw the (black) front page, I thought that the google ads went unfiltered.
Unfortunately, I can only imagine that she is going through a really bad spot right now. With her history of depression, and the realization that she is about to hit rock bottom with a divorce and the lack of respect she will be getting from her daughter, I fear that she will be considering suicide as an option. I can only hope that she has a good friend with her and will be able to persevere.
As bad as it is that she has done what many feel is unthinkable, her husband and child will suffer more if she takes her own life.
I have had some encounters with Suzy. I ran at a D1 college that competed at Wisconsin quite a bit. She was always very nice to everyone and I think she is genuinely a good person who made some bad decisions.
I don't see why people are up in arms. If anything, she has made distance runners a lot more interesting....well, maybe the women. There is probably no help for male distance runners. In any case, she has made the sport more interesting to someone who never gave a darn about distance running.
I don't buy assault rifles, pot, or sex, but I think it's pretty crazy which one of these three is legal.
