Running Tights - Shorts Over or Not?

Wearing shorts over tights is like a big blinking sign that says "I'm a big manly macho man who is NOT gay, not even a little gay!" Basically, it makes you look insecure.

Only exception is when it is very cold (say, sub-20) and windy, in which case they really help keep the tip from getting too frosty.

Today I decided on the outfit of long sleeve t-shirt, long tights, and a running cap. Wasn't quite ready for the shorts just yet and it was about 42 degrees.

I passed a house being demolished when I believe one of the construction workers called me a "homo" and seconds later a "queer". Which is fairly interesting since I'm married to a woman and we have two boys and I have never had a homosexual experience in my entire life.

So, welcome to 2021. Still homophobic, even in nice neighborhoods.

or they're not homophobic and they just like to use WORDS to get sensitive people riled up. Give people that power, and they will enjoy it.

I live in one of the ultra-wokest neighborhoods anywhere and i still get those things yelled at me. People just hate runners.

So let's get this straight:

Every guy in the NFL wears tights in almost every practice and every game. The only thing under the tights is a jock strap, or another pair of tights. These guys are seen as badass American heroes.

Professional wrestlers wear nothing but spandex underwear and grapple with other men, sometimes even grabbing each other's junk as a power move. These guys are also seen as badass American heroes.

Superheroes like Black Panther and Spiderman wear tights and rid of the world of scum. These guys are also seen as badasses.

Lance Armstrong was one of the worlds' most admired athletes before his drug scandals and he wore tight, small bicycle shorts with nobody doing a double take.

Even better, a fat Average Joe goes scuba diving in a junk-exposing wetsuit and everyone wants to know how fun the expedition was.

Regular guy wears underwear, boxer briefs, etc. under his running tights while out for a run and he is seen as the worlds biggest homosexual and a target to be ridiculed for eternity.

I ran 10 miles this am and ran faster than goal pace during the 6 x 1,000m portion. I did it all feeling great, while looking horribly, with running tights under shorts, shame-free and with no remorse.

shorts over tights look ridiculous IMO. If it's really cold, sometimes I'll wear shorts under my tights to help prevent dick freeze. In 25 years of running I've never heard construction workers yell at me. Still get "Run Forrest run" every once in awhile though (to which I reply "I gotta get Bubba!").

It seems to me that it is comfortable and warm. For this, athletes dress like this. For example, it is convenient for me to wear leg garters ( https://mariemur.com/collections/legs-garters ) . Someone may not understand this, someone may not pay attention, and someone may admire it. I like to wear them with skirts and dresses, I feel very attractive and self-confident when I put them on.

just wear the tights.

best if they have a pattern.

maybe polka dots.

no shorts over them.

stuff a few bananas down the front for after run snack.

and heavens sake,

do not forget to wear your cape.

Shorts over tights is an announcement that you’re looking for the D. It’s like saying ,without saying, you gaze at every cork you can and henceforth believe other dudes are doing it to you(they’re not) and you don’t wanna be dick shamed for being hung like the blowfish you are.

Never wear shorts over running tights.

And unless it is mid-30s F, just wear shorts.

No shorts over tights! That crap started with the younger crowd. Nobody wore shorts over long tights in the 80's. Nobody. Also people only whore tights when doing athletics or ballet.

Those garters are incredible. I’d rather have a pair of alphafly but great taste!

I always wear shorts over my tights! I've had too many embarrassing moments in the past at the start line of races when I just went with tights! 😲
