Probably too difficult to say or even keep up - what is clear, I think, is that the post-Geb marathon runners have taken us to a new era in road racing. This really is a revolutionary time for the marathon.
Fleshman basically met my expectations of 2:35, but the way that she did it hinted at a lot more potential. She ran with the 2:30 group almost the whole way, and then completely crashed, taking 15:00 for the last two miles!
Remember, this was all on a compressed 9 week training cycle after Worlds, with less than 80 miles/week.
I think if anyone else had her courage, one of them would have done something very special.

Meb may find recovery at 36 difficult, but it doesn't look like he will need to be at his best to make the team. I'll look this up later, but does anyone know off the top of their heads if anyone has made two non-consecutive Olympic US Marathon teams? I don't think so.
how is 6 mins behind leader fantastic, this just further enhances why IAAF should bring the marathon standard down to 2:08:59
So there were 126 elite women meaning 100 of them didn't break 2.50. Shows how hard the marathon really is.
Moran just ran faster at the NYC Marathon than Ritz ran in his two efforts.

gharib ran well, he seems to have been around forever even though he did not start running until age 24, he must be 38 or 39 now, can be a force in the masters division.

Great debut for Molly Pritz! I'm pretty sure that was Camille Herron (jaguar1) hobbling along as the top men finished; 2:40 a week after Pan-Am is a proud double nonetheless.
You realize Meb has an Olympic silver medal, and he's never broken 2:09, right?

Maybe now people will shut up about how aided Boston was when he ran 2:03:02. Geoffrey just stomped Emmanuel by almost 2 minutes. There's no question about who was the better marathoner today or last April.
