Geneseo should be good this year and might contend for the win, I just dont see it happening though despite all the talent they get they can never seem to put together a team that performs up to their potential. I could see Geneseo coming in 1st or all the way down to 4th. Cortland is a big question mark as well after their interesting outdoor track season. I think SLU could surprise and get the win at regionals.
1. SLU
2. Cortland
3. Geneseo "Cardinals"
novoro was not at nationals though?
but here is the big question... Who is taller?
Pre Season National Rankings are out. Someone else can find the link, my few comments.
1. North Central- good solid choice
2. Lacrosse- Man do the people in the midwest suck UWL cock, jesus, they have shit the bed the last 3-4 years at NCAA's yet always have "5 guys back"
3. Cortland- Nice ranking, but no love or respect for Defending Champs. Should have been there number 1 ranking to lose. Not like they dont have 3-4 guys back who were top 50-60 at ncaa's last year.
5. Geneseo- might be a bit high, they will be good but as we all know they never run to their talent or potential.
9. Dickinson ?
13. Brandeis? Potential yes, but need to show something, havent beaten NYU in years.
14 NYU- last 3 years, 2nd, 1st, then 12th with 4 guys going down or losing shoes. If they run even close to what they ran all year at nationals they are top 5 last year. Lee and Turlip were right behind Maher at every race last year. Could suprise with a really tight pack, though we will have to wait and see how they run with Schneider gone.
23 Haverford? Think that wont motivate them or Coach Donnelly.

when you graduate one runner from the 8th place team and add 3 more established runners (including a sub-15:00 5k)....then you tend to move up in the rankings.
In case anyone is looking for it, here's the link for the pre-season rankings.

AR has 6 teams in the top 35: Cortland (3), Geneseo (5), NYU (14), SLU (20), Plattsburgh (29), TCNJ (34-T).
Pre-season rankings mean very little, but there they are.
who did they add?

Also 6 AR teams in the top 35: Cortland (7), Geneseo (10), St. Lawrence (16), Plattsburgh (24), TCNJ (28), Ithaca (34). Plus, NYU made it into the ARV category with 3 votes. Big jump for them after finishing 10th at regionals last year, but not too surprising as their top 5 consisted of 3 freshmen and 2 sophomores.

got ya....i thought he meant on top of those guys
Didn't Geneseo also add Chris Carter from Edinboro? Carter ran some low 15s on the roads this summer.
bump
everyone busy buying their books? 5 days till first races, where are people going the first weekend?
Geneseo is "poorly coached"????? The G-men have qualified for the NCAAs the last 6 years in a row. The G-women have qualified for NCAAs the last 11 years in a row with a National Championship in 05. That IS NOT poor coaching.
Geneseo may or may not be poorly coached, but they are the best "cheaper" public option in the region, and should no doubt be great every year. Why are so many WIAC schools good every year, good coaches but also cause they get alot of kids whose families cant or wont pay for out of state private school. NY has the same deal, especially in this economy, not to mention how many kids can actually get into Hamilton, NYU, Rochester? Not nearly as many who can get into Cortland, Geneseo, or Plattsburgh.
So can we now talk about some upcoming meets?
its actually pretty tough to get into geneseo, on par with UR, NYU etc..this years frosh class averaged 1340 SAT
Their results are good when compared to other average teams. However they get recruits that are way way way above average for DIII. If I was a kid that wanted to stay as fast as I was or get slower than I was in highschool and maybe make a national championship I'd go to Geneseo. If I was a kid that wanted to just get as fast as I possibly could I'd go to a school like TCNJ Plattsburgh or maybe Fredonia.

ah yes, the perennial powerhouses of plattsburgh and fredonia...you wouldn't happen to go to either of those?
;)
I just look at what the recruits are and how they develop, and you are correct I do not go to either school.
