So glad Blake Russell made the team and Mag Levy-Boulet deserved it after her effort...but Deena was more than amazing. Deena Kastor was down 1 minute and 56 seconds at halfway and ran 1:13:04 second half to win!

Good for Deena & Blake!

And Mag gets...Dick (Boulet) and an Olympic spot!

(sigh) I miss the days of Dick & Grote on the message boards...

not really. her marathon PR is far superior to everyone else in the field and 1:13 isn't her PR pace.

The next question is whether or not Mag signs with an agent and gets an adidas shoe deal.

Is Dan Lilot (ex T&FN) who now works for Peter Stubbs tied in with Magdalena, or does she have an agent?

Actually it is impressive she didn't hit the gas immediately after passing halfway so the 1:13 is deceptive. She picked it up alot after the 1/2 mark and regardless such a big negative spilt isn't a cake walk even for Deena. Sure she could have run faster but her run was still impressive.

Magdalena Lewy-Boulet is capable of a top ten finish with the frontrunning she did today.

deena was just making it interesting for the viewers.

It seems like it would be very emotionally draining to DNF in the Trials that it would be tough to come back. Then, consider running what really is a hard day (DNF or not) and then running a marathon.

Commentary on the race website said that O'Neill dropped around mile 23. It didn't say when Dryer went out. Does anyone know?

They're probably saving their legs for the 10k at the Trials (?). Hope they didn't drop due to injury.

Paul Radcliffe could crap a 2:29:36 marathon in her sleep. There will be no US medals.
