Can anyone figure out which "pro runner" this might be? I'm guessing it isn't someone who Cam follows, since they slid into his DMs and introduced themselves as a pro runner, but who knows.
I think most would agree that testing recreational runners would be a huge waste of resources. This is obvious.
But, if Cam Hanes narcs on himself by admitting broke the rules of the races he entered then the race organizers should show a little back bone. Not promote him all over their social media like Jamil did.

Well if Cam brings publicity and more entrants, then why would the race organizers risk losing money? It’s up to them whether or not they want to promote him. You can’t set their values for them. This is the doping McCarthyism I was referring to earlier. You people are obsessed with weeding out doping to the point of the McCarthyites ransacking peoples’ homes looking for evidence of Communism. It’s this almost fundamentalist intolerance you people have. I hope the race promoters write a page long column on their homepage celebrating Cam’s heroism. That will really show intolerants like you.
Cam has a long history of thinking the rules don't apply to him or his family. One example: He lied about his nepo baby son's age and forced him to run the Eugene Marathon when he was 14, despite the minimum age being 16. All because he thought "kids today are too coddled" or some other weird, Rush Limbaugh-era talking point.
Recently, when he stopped crying and really got cooking on his Cocodona 250 recap (Really Cam, you should have titled this episode as a Cocodona 60 recap, because that's how far you made it champ) he peddled anti-vaccine conspiracy theories and suggested that's why Sage got pulmonary embolisms. The direct quote after making this claim was "The Woke, liberal vegan, they do what they're told, right? I don't. People like me, oh wait, you're telling me to do something? How about f*ck off." So yeah, Cam def doesn't think the rules apply to him.
Honestly, why not use the big guns (Rachel and Killian) and go after this guy? Esp. assuming they are clean. They are already legends in ultra and that would make this go away.
Not a supporter of Cam at all.
But Rachel and Killian have actual running careers to worry about. There's zero upside and only potential downside to them "going after" Cam. Sage has a lot of time and not much to lose at this point. If anything, Cam drawing attention to Cocodona is good for everyone, especially Aravaipa and the top finishers who get tons of extra free publicity.
What the Cam supporters don’t understand is what it feels like to be the 50yr old in the same race that kills himself everyday week in, week out, and can only run 2:50. That 50yr old battles with that fitness barrier line that he can’t get passed. There is a great amount of respect for that barrier. Then that 50yr old goes to his race, and there is a 58yr old sailing by, looking insanely fit. That guy flies by look a superior lifeform. You have major respect for that because you know how hard it is to be at that higher level. Then you find out that 58yr old guy uses banned drugs. And further, is unapologetic, and says it doesn’t matter.
If you’re that 50yr old guy, that will likely bother you, possibly a lot. And you will feel that you it needs be corrected, and shouldn’t be glossed over. Because it strikes you deeply. Because you live and experience those barriers everyday.
That is why this stuff strikes a major chord with serious runners. Because we know the incredible, day in, day out, body of work. We know the barriers and they are f****ng hard to break clean.
What a gushy, melodramatic and emotionally manipulative post. I am nearly in disbelief that 521 upvoting fools fell for it, yet I know the lack of critical thinking of the milieu on here so no surprise. You make it sound like these 50 year olds are leveraging their homes and sacrificing their marriages to run these races. They are making a free choice to train and participate in these races and nobody is stopping them from gearing up like Cam. The lengths you go to to smear Cam are appalling.

Yeah. They get pissy at cam and aravapia doesn’t have bibs for them anymore. since they control a lot of the races it’s a huge risk to their primary livelihood which is why nobody’s like me need to be vocal. Aravapia wanrs to make money and cam is the way

I hope Cam is compensating you for all the time you are spending defending him to anonymous people on a message board? As you can see no one else agrees with your pathetic worship of an insecure old man, but maybe this is cathartic for you…

You are so blinded by your hatred for Cam that you can’t resist expressing your disdain for the thousands of people like myself who support him. He has hundreds of thousands of followers, so sorry, yeah more people agree with me than with you. I’m sorry that my honest and truthful posts hurt your insecurity so much that you feel the need to insult me.

Your reading comprehension sucks. Avoiding injury and managing fatigue and recovery so you can run well in your 50s is hard. And it gets harder every year. If you're getting your recovery from a pill dispenser, you're not even running the same race as the rest of us.
What stops normal people from doping their way to victory is a basic human sense of fairness, honesty, and integrity. You seem to lack that.
We don't have to go to any lengths to smear Cam. He already smeared himself all over the internet. "I'm a doper, who dopes, and doping let me win races, gain a social media following, hang out with pros, and earn lots of money from my doping sponsors," is what he voluntarily confessed to.
The problem with being a big-time, self-confessed doper is that the stain never goes away. For the rest of his life, every time Cam signs up for a race, people will ask about his doping. Race directors will have to decide to let a known doper race or not. Some won't. Becoming known as a doper-friendly race just isn't worth the hassle. His fans will ask, "Cam, you ran a BQ, are you going to go win your age group at Boston?" What's he going to say? No can do, they don't accept entries from dopers?
His other option is to go clean and watch his physique fade away as his T levels and libido fall to zero, thanks to his natural T production disappearing after decades of exogenous supplementation.
You might want to look up what happened the last time a master's runner started sniffing at age group records by taking shortcuts. The accusations never went away, and it ended badly.

My reading comprehension does not suck anywhere near as much as your writing sucks. My God, you could put an insomniac to sleep, you are so boring.
Cameron is Nietzche’s over-man. He is not afraid to pursue his dreams and take risks to accomplish his goals. He’s living the American dream. Kudos to him for taking control of his life, finding his own purpose, and refusing to let you betas get in his way. He’s a rugged warrior-king and you guys are a bunch of scared cowardly peasants. That’s what this is about right? These “normal people” you ramble about in your second paragraph. What are they actually? They’re cowards, admit it. You want something in life, you take it. Any values to the contrary are there to keep you caged. To succeed you have to create your own self determined values.
As for your point about race directors being reluctant to allow his entry and your other similar points, I have this to say. If more people had the courage to dope then it would become normalized and your worries would be over. USADA, and the government in general, create these artificial bureaucratic power structures to control us. That’s all drug testing is. I made this point earlier. Who gets to determine what substances are ingestible and which aren’t? All you can accurately say is that some help with running performance more than others. So there is a whole spectrum of substances where some are deemed cheat-able and others which still provide performance advantages and aren’t banned. Who gets to determine what is banned and what isn’t? Wake up my friend. Step out of your cave of ignorance and pursue a life of excellence.
Has anybody dropped comments on Freetrail/Singletrack/Boulder Boys etc?
Have a hard time imagining Deebo touching this considering his association with Speedland, but Finn or the Boulder Boys are not fettered by that.
The Boulder Boys in particular have not been shy voicing their opinions about the lack of testing at trail events, would love to hear them sound off on this.
So after 15 pages we can all agree, Cam Hanes is a cheating old man who is scared of the passage of time and Sage Canaday is a YouTube has been desperately trying to cling on to relevance because he failed to innovate with YouTube as the platform grew.
Two idiots come together through fate and we get to talk about it for 15 pages, what a time to be alive.

This thread is essentially finished. Sage has done all the whining he is going to do on here with his posts and neither the people who side with him or Cam are changing their minds. Let’s move on.
