Wasn't able to follow live but Jimmy's run is now on Strava. 2.5x pace for 15km, then 0.1km slower than 5min/k suddenly, so I'm guessing something unexpected, doesn't look like a blow up as the splits were consistent up until 15.1km.
Anyone know what happened?
How does that not look like a blow-up? (BTW, strava/Suunto splits don't look accurate here at all)
He literally ran with the East Africans who were pushing for sub 59 for the first 2ish miles and then slowly popped from there. Just dumb racing
5 km 00:14:32 14:32 02:55 20.66 10 km 00:29:12 14:40 02:56 20.44 15 km 00:44:34 15:22 03:05 19.53 FINISH 01:05:04 20:30 03:22 17.85
Ah ok, thanks for posting the full splits. The strava activity stopped at 15k before the pace started to really drop.

Guess he just went out too hard?
Way too hard. There didn't really seem to be 2-3 pace groups as initially told. When I saw him hanging on the back of the Africans and Petros who wanted to aim for the sub-59 European record, I knew where the way it was going to end. His strava activity has seemingly been deleted now.
Too hard?! But according social media... "pro cycling taught me[Jimmy] to suffer in a way that can't be compared to anything else"
And... "pro cycling has way more aerobic volume than a pro runner".
The half marathon, a 98% aerobic event, should have been light work according to him, even if he went out too fast he has that special suffering mechanism too 😂😂. What went wrong?!
This result was a little satisfying i must admit after all the glazing on Jimmy, himself included.

I would like to see him upload the run to Strava and tell us what happened. Everyone is "transparent" and authentic online until something goes bad

He posted another run today but made it private again very quickly. Does he know you can make the settings so not every run is immediately public?

"It’s not easy to have off days in sport, particularly in this one. I have high expectations and I didn’t deliver yesterday. I am well versed in these games and I will be better off for it. After-all my history suggests my best days come after my worst."
Not Australian but heard about this on the latest IRP... this Jess Hull/Athletics Australia drama/manufactured fake drama depending on who you believe is very weird isn't it..

Scott Gullan has been in contact with Nic Bideau for his athletics articles for 20 years now. Wouldn't be hard to work out where he's getting BS info from. The biggest question is what exactly the motive is to create drama with Hull? The timing of this, and Anstey's/Lauren Ryan's issues recently are just too convenient. No idea what's going on.

Disclaimer that I have no idea but if I was throwing out wild guesses: Petty jealousy? MTC is no longer attractive to the best up and coming athletes. These others are showing that you don't need Nic to make it internationally. Is there someone in AA whose role is under pressure and Team Hull et al are pushing for change? Could be upcoming Comm Games selection BS. Making sure Georgia, Sarah, Rose get to run and/or double. Note the below part of the selection criteria. Is Lauren Ryan on thin ice?

Wow, talk about being at the mercy of officials. Next thing we know they'll be going back to the bad old days where they wouldn't start the race unless you had your singlet tucked in, refuse to do so now and you could be seen as not in ‘good standing’ and you don't get selected lol.

Wonder who these people are with the "absolute discretion"?

For those late to this thread, like me and haven't read the all the posts, this is the what that is referring too:

Weird indeed. Pretty sure both Anstey/Ryan are also managed by Haas.
I reckon we're about to see a bunch more selection drama for the commonwealth games. Given the direction that the CG is heading in, this could very well be the last CG anyway.
