I can’t blame Grant for racing for 3rd place. Even if you make half a million per year, $100K is a big deal. It’s life changing for some of these guys.
I like the idea of lowering the prize money for 1st place of the double and having a big bonus for winning both races. Keep both races honest.
Not sure why anyone thinks Grant was sandbagging. Maybe that was the best he could do? Sure, he was confident in his ability to outkick that group, but still a big risk to choose to take if he could have also just gone with the leaders.
There is nothing to reinvent here, GST is trying to turn track and field into something it’s not.

You couldn't be more wrong Mr. Armchair Psychologist. I was so happy for GST when it was announced. I told everyone I knew. But the format sucks! Stop being in denial. I still think they can salvage it! They just need to change the format.
