Right.
Nobody that responds in these message boards in favor of police would ever react calmly when confronted, especially not in that manner. There are plenty of examples of police officers handling these situations with more tact, albeit less noteworthy. Why? Because it's their job. It's a job that has its challenges, but at the end of the day, requires people to work with other people.
Obviously this isn't the place for racially sensitive discussions to be held. But it is abundantly clear who is predisposed to dislike black people judging by their response to this video.
Had the situation been typed out with no identifying characteristics, exactly how it was shown on video, would so many people be supporting the police? And if that changes your mind: why?
I've dealt with at least five more aggressive individuals just driving around today than these cops dealt with in Fred Kerley. And I'm a good driver. At the end of the day, it's a good litmus test to see how people deal with concepts of empathy/sympathy when it's not always easy to give.
You don't like how someone speaks, call him out for how he talks or uses language, implying he doesn't know how? You call him a thug for how you perceive his behavior to be? You see what he looks like and immediately assume he was the aggressor? Check your bias before it checks you. Adults in form, but children in function. Can't stand racists, including the ones that say "I'm all for people standing up for themselves, but there's a stereotype for a reason."
Good old garden-variety passive-aggressive snake-in-the-grass style racism rearing its ugly head and festering on the message boards. Say it here, because nobody will want to hear it in real life.
