We just had the fastest mile of the race for the women in mile 21 - 5:14.

43 degrees, sunny, 8 mph winds out of the north at start of women’s race
Women 1 mile 6:20 unofficial on the bridge

Mile 4: 5:36
Mile 5: 5:21
Mile 6: 5:33
Obiri to the front at 6 miles, is she surging? No, just getting in position for her drinks
10k: 35:24 2:29:19 pace
1:13:59 at half, 21 women still in lead pack
Mile 14: 5:43
Still a large pack at 16 mile
Sara Vaughn leading during mile 18
Mile 18: 5:15 Sara Vaughn only American left in 10-woman lead group

Vivian Cheruiyot moing to the front at 33k and women’s pack starting to string out. Lokedi droppedl, there are five together at 21 miles – Obiri, Teferi, Chepkirui

Mile 4: 5:08 Now Rory Linkletter making a break and Albertson & Nageeye follow him. Chebet and Mantz cover it and now the pack is together again
Mile 5: 4:49 Chebet leading it and looking good

10k: 31:27 still a big pack
Abel Kipchumba making a big move during mile 11 and stringing things out a little bit. But it doesn’t stay strung out for very long
Mile 11: 4:52.
Albertson pushing and takes lead during mile 13, then Tola takes the lead later in mile 13 and starts pushing and stringing things out
65:33 at halfway, 15 guys within 6 seconds of lead but a pack is separating. Mantz and Young go with it.
1:14:10 Lara making a break on Queensboro Bridge during mile 15 but they catch him before the end of the bridge
Evans Chebet making a big push coming off the Queensboro Bridge and here we got. Albert Korir and Geoffrey Kamworor come with him. Starts to string out but then they slow a big and group of 7 is reforming. Chebet testing the waters there.
Now Tola comes over the top and takes the lead. Early on 1st ave and he keeps his foot on the gas.
Mile 17: 4:27. Very fast mile and you’ve got 6 guys in lead group – Kamworor, Korir, Nageeye, Tola, Chebet, and Kiptoo.

Rugby woman is "proud she gets to see the marathon." Pretty low bar. I wish we could.

I'm kind of thinking Mantz is going to pick off maybe 3 or 4 of those lead guys and finish in the top three.

Agree, or big breakthrough. Gotta risk it at some point, he's not getting younger.
