To all those defending this massive leap forward as likely legitimate, here is an honest question:
Where are all the 2:10 women performances? How about the 2:11? Or 2:12? Or 2:13? Or even 2:14?
If there was something that’s had a net positive systemically for women’s running - shoe tech, fueling, etc - then where are the boards of other women over the last few years since all of this became widely available that have run within a stones throw of yesterdays performance?
They're not there.
What do you attribute that to? Has this one individual just magically discovered a new training or racing approach other women haven’t? Have they figured out a new way to use carbs or the carbon fiber shoes that others haven’t?
Honestly, if you find nothing suspicious about the extreme outlier of a record jump yesterday, what do you attribute that to?
