Y'all have had 2500 years to notice that the Olympics are a pagan ceremony.

That tableau was never made to imitate the last supper. If it had been, there would been the right number of disciples.

And the day you are as respectful to Gay, Lesbian, Trans, pagan and Wiican people as you expect them to be to you is the day I care about you being offended.

You compare yourselves favourably to Islamic fundamentalists. Is that the standard you want to set for yourselves? Is that how you would be if you weren't exercising forbearance?

False. The last supper had 13 people. This performance had more.

It was a representation of the Greek god Dionysus, the god of wine, pleasure, and festivities. They were depicting a festival in the honor of Dionysus.

In case you didn’t realize this, the Olympics originated in ancient Greece. It is therefore logical for the opening ceremony to pay homage to ancient Greek traditions.

There seem to be two types of defenses of the ceremony. It's either a) "that had nothing to do with the last supper" or b) "boo hoo cry harder about your fake religion lolz"

As far as a) is concerned, maybe you're right. But it seems highly likely that it was an intentional parallel. But even if it wasn't, the issue is decorum. Overt displays of sexuality, of ANY kind, don't have a place in the Olympic opening ceremony. If it had been scantily clad, traditionally-attractive women being raunchy, same thing would apply.

And b) you don't have to be a believer to understand that the Olympics ought to be a place where a diverse range of cultural beliefs are to be respected, and effort ought to be made to avoid the outright offense of 1/3 of the global population. This kind of a response is the sign of immaturity and low intelligence.
