The craziest thing was I thought he was done 100-150 in, seemed like he was 10-15 meters back almost instantly. What a f*ckin talent.
If he goes 1:42 in the final, I have to think his medal chances go way up in Paris at the 1500 or 800. He’s ran 5 races so far, that’s impressive.
He said he probably wouldn't double, but with the 800 being somewhat weak globally, it could be a better event for him this year. He could be like Murphy in 2016.
Shortly thereafter Murphy's downfall was also trying to double 800/1500 at USAs. He hasn't been the same since.
"USATF communications told me Holt was DQ'd for violating USATF Rule 163.5, which is stepping over the line on the first turn. Holt said that he was full of adrenaline at the start and may have been close to the line as a result. Presumably he will DQ but he said he had to talk to his coach first."
Eric Holt stepped on curb twice, violating rule 165.5, thanks @travktownusa for clarification · After Eric Holt, in his first sponsored race with PUMA spoke heartfelt about racing for John Trautmann’s Empire Coast Club, and running 1:45.04, it appears that he was DQed. We have requested a clarification…
weird i also follow swimming closely where covid shook things up but what happened in 2021 felt pretty close to expectations. on the other it seems like track got shock upside down
