We have merged two threads on this topic into 1 and kept the title of the longer thread. The other thread was called, "Adeline Johnson, high school senior, misses state due to biological male taking the last spot in California."
You are correct. Sports are divided into categories for fairness. There are weight classes and age groups and sexes and school grades. Glad you can see that is what we are discussing.

No idea what the heck you are ascribing to me. Learn to quote my words verbatim before doing that.
If only there were experienced professionals whose opinions could be consulted about the best course of treatment.
These experiments on the bodies of children only started quite recently, so there simply hasn't been enough time to establish a full picture of all the consequences the patients will see throughout the rest of their lives.
But you could start by having a look at why the Swedish National Board of Health - and similar institutions in several other countries - have begun reversing their recommendations in this area.
So if you think 25 years ago is "quite recently", how long does it take for a medical procedure to be no longer experimental? Fifty years? One hundred years? Do you consider Lasik surgery experimental? How about kidney transplant?
Since the mid 1990s, puberty delaying medications have been prescribed to some adolescents (not prepubertal children) with severe and persistent gender dysphoria, in cases in which such distress was aggravated by pubertal development.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCP), in 1998, recommended delaying puberty in young adolescents who experienced strong and persistent “cross-sex identification” and distress around the physical body that intensifies with the onset of puberty.
If it is such a small part of society does that justify turning sports into a political battleground at the expense of their fellow competitors?
Yes, small implies commensurate insignificance, but the battle is about human rights, a more significant issue than a bunch of folks running around a ball with made up rules to entertain others.
I’m a registered Democrat and support a complete ban.
I’m not a registered Democrat, but I support athletes competing in their identified gender. I don’t see this as a fairness issue. It’s a participation issue. It’s an acceptance issue. It’s a validation of humanity issue.
If you don't see this as a fairness issue then that's the problem. 99 percent of people know it's unfair and the rest are just idiots.
It's fair to say that there is considerable disagreement and more reasonable to question the wisdom of these procedures in the absence of long-term evidence.
The Swedish review recognizes that bone density can recover after starting cross hormone therapy. There is also some evidence that bone density could be a problem that exists even before taking puberty blocker.
It is well known that sex steroids, particularly estrogen, play a crucial role in the attainment and maintenance of peak bone density in all people. Transgender (trans) women have been frequently observed to have low bone den...
The following article addresses other questions like fertility. (It was written by a journalist. But you can check all the linked peer reviewed articles.)
Decades of data support the use and safety of puberty-pausing medications, which give transgender adolescents and their families time to weigh important medical decisions
it is not about human rights. children do not have the legal right to do a whole host of things until they become legal adults because they lack the mental capacity for consent until then.
What if I identify as being 15 and just want to race against high schoolers? My feelings are more important than any hateful people that want to stop me right? Identifying as a different age or a different gender are both completely subjective phenomena with no grounding in biological reality. In fact, I've been 15 once so I objectively have more of an insight into what identifying into that category actually means.
We’ve been through this on other threads. You can change your gender. Your can’t change your age. See birth certificates, drivers licenses, etc. your argument makes zero sense.
Your can't change your age. OK, teacher.
What if I believe life begins at conception? But as far as birth certificates there are things that can get changed since my sister and I have both had my father's name changed on it.
XY do not belong in XX division of any women's sports.
This really feels like there is no solution at this point, with trans participation in sports rising (due to less prejudice/bigotry against trans people and more acceptance).
What the hell do we do? Lose-lose-lose.
1) Allow trans to compete with actual women - trans have unfair advantage and steal medal/podium spots from real women.
2) Bar trans from sports - oppression, trans treated like low class citizens, which they don’t deserve
3) Separate trans category - if you make prize/recognition equal, it will just be dominated by lazy men or trolls who can’t win male category. If less prize/recognition (likely result), then trans will rightfully feel like their category is a joke and suffer basically same as above. 4) ????? am I missing an option or is there no hope ???
If there are enough participants, then #3 could work. Para athletes don't get the equal prize / recognition, but they don't treat their category as a joke. Women don't get the equal prize / recognition, for the mort part. But they don't treat their category as a joke.
If there aren't enough participants to create a separate category, let them compete with women, but make them ineligible for any formal award. Tatyana McFaden sued her school district because she didn't have anyone to compete with. She was allowed to race with runners, but was ineligible for any award. Once she was in college, she got to compete in her own category.
Boys are boys. Girls are girls. This trans crap don't fly. That's what's wrong with kids and parents nowadays. They let the kids or their parents express them selves. Bunch of BS.

So if me a 4:13 miler decides I want to identify as a girl and break every record in women's history then it's okay just because everyone is forced to accept me or be called transphobic?
There are very few people arguing that transwomen who have not taken steps to medically transition should be allowed to participate in elite female competition. Prior to the World Athletics ruling, you would have been eligible to compete in international competitions in the female category if you were on hormone blockers and estrogen for a minimum of 24 months, at which point you would still be ineligible because you would be way too slow to come close to qualifying for any international or even national women's competition. You would be struggling to crack 5 minutes in the mile. Try googling June Eastwood.

It's a f-ing joke. It's disgusting to women's sports to allow sone freak and his family to pretend their son is a girl and take opportunity away from girls /women
