We have merged two threads into 1 as we like to have 1 thread per topic. We don't need a thread on how she's running the 10,000 and then another on how she did. Here is a video of her on the final lap:
Markezich? She would definitely be one of the favorites.
I think so, but I got the impression that she's been overlooked somewhat. 9:40.65 probably won't change one's previous take of her. For me, tonight's race confirms what I think is her strongest asset: in big events, when it counts, Markezich shows up and delivers.
She has not gotten the sane attention as McCabe or DeLay for example. This time puts her at #3 in the country.

A collegiate conference championship is not what you watch to see FAST TIMES! The strategy is to SCORE POINTS for the team! The Saturday before the ACC Tuohy got her fast 5000 time. Last night was about scoring for the TEAM! If Coach Henes needs team points on Saturday, Katelyn will run the 5000. Whether or not the points are necessary to get the Wolfpack a desired team score will be determined by what happens in the events BEFORE the 5000. The fact that Katelyn won the 10,000 without having to max out her effort makes it possible that she can win the 5000 Saturday if necessary. In summary, CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS are about the team and not so much about the individuals.
Huge spill in the SEC women's steeple. Taborda and Hyde flipped over the hurdle. Both were able to finish the race
I hate moments like that. The occasional bump and bruise is expected in the steeple and on gnarly XC courses so long as no one is seriously hurt. I hope they're ok.

Yeah I was amazed they just bounced back up, but adrenaline will do that. Hopefully no injuries. The camera panned to Taborda after the race and she did not look happy.
NC St usually places top runners in event they will not run in NCAA regional, and those who feel ready run the 5000. Bush might be an exception to that though.
