I think it was called social justice back then or 'political correctness'. It got changed to "cultural marxism", and then finally to "woke".
The Right have to keep rebranding to keep their followers engaged with the latest monster-under-the-bed.

Political correctness has been around for a long time. Bill Maher's first show was called "Politically Incorrect" and it started in 1993. Maher's been left of center his entire life and even he has known how stupid the PC crowd is for decades.
It goes back a lot further. Archie Bunker satirized the attitudes and values of the newly discovered (by the media) American working class. The 1970s were the true decade of social change, not the 1960s. And the social backlash about pevasive cultural changes is really rooted in that decade.
Not coincidentally, the 1970s was the decade most boomers transitioned from youth to adulthood.

Please. The woke leftists are easily the most hateful, vitriolic people I've ever seen. I would put them up there with the racial hate groups, but the leftist brand of hate is more socially accepted. Why don't you ask any POC or gay conservatives, anyone who has publicly detransitioned, any black person who speaks out against critical race theory/intersectionality just how loving, tolerant and accepting these woke leftists really are.
