Q1 and Q2 GDP numbers are all jacked up because of Trump's trade war. US GDP contracted by .3% in Q1 largely due to the massive stockpiling that went on to beat Trump's tariffs. Q2 is a whipsaw in that imports have plummeted due to a virtual shutdown of trade with China in April when the 145% tariffs went into effect and a generally low demand for imports due to the prior stockpiling. The economy in Q1 wasn't that bad and the economy in Q2 isn't going to be that good.
