Gun to my head if I had to pick a side right now, even with the obvious lies from Marina's camp, I would go with the results being real. There are so many people around and they would have to be in on the scam. Now, it does make for an interesting comparison that the people Rob Young rode with were not his friends but were still in on it. So, if Marina is riding with her friends, they would have more incentive to be in on the scam than a stranger. She and her husband obviously stand to profit from a successful attempt. For some reason though, I just don't see it happening like that. I need more evidence to convince me this is fake.

I was edging towards believing Team Marvellous but Scam really pulled one out of the bag with his ability to spoof her runs.

Ditto, I'm ready to believe but something continues to feel shady about this. Agreed that Boots on ground or an actual video (not a few seconds for show) would convince me towards truth.

Unfortunately, the data Team Marvellous has so far is completely buggered. There is no trust that team hasn't intentionally buggered the data. It is as if they are doing it on purpose to discredit tracking systems. Garmin, Suunto, Race Drone ... none of them can measure time, position, distance or elevation properly. They cannot measure elevation with 1000 feet . ... Yeah, right.

Yes, I was surprised and impressed by what Scam pulled off. It really shows that the early days of the run could have been spoofed. I have no idea how big her team was at the start. It would be easier to pull off with smaller numbers.

Boots on the ground / long videos would definitely be a big step in the right direction. Even with that though, I would have my doubts about the first half. There were a lot of miles in the middle of nowhere. When the geezers finally caught up to Rob Young, it took him a while to break down. Mimi is a real runner and I think she would last a lot longer if someone met up with her. I guess what I'm saying is that even if we see her finish the last ten days, it doesn't undo what happened before. Now that we know with absolute certainty that Strava can be faked, there is no way to prove that she did what she claims. The two possibilities are: 1. she finishes and some believe she really did it (where I am), or 2. she openly fails and whatever happened out west is irrelevant.

Something to consider is: is it truly believable the she set a record that a younger, fitter, healthier, long-long distance runner will never top? Mimi will run under 50 days. It is guaranteed she will finish. That was determined before the event started.

I agree it is extremely difficult to believe considering not only her age but also her knee and her general physical condition (needing assistance to and from the RV). Plus we have such a lack of supporting evidence which you would think the team would put out. Hell someone could just film her for a few hours with their phone from the car driving behind her. I'm not 100% convinced she'll finish successfully (I agree it's likely at this point) but if she does at the very least I think she'll have company once she gets to Pennsylvania. Hopefully before then but I doubt it.

OK, I was wrong. I thought people were arguing that the Skins employee had no connection to Rob and would want to keep his job, so there was no way he would be in on the scam. Obviously he turned out to be a part of it. I don't remember Dustin his wife and Rob all living together but I'll take your word for it. Maybe that's why his wife moved back to Poland.

Yeah, but think about how good that'll look and sound when the videographer puts together the film of this epic journey. When Marvelous Mimi and Terrible Tim go around schools, conventions, etc, giving inspirational presentations, "Marvelous Mimi needed assistance to and from the RV but she courageously battled on in the Churchill British bulldog spirit..." blah, blah, blah...

Even if she pulls out before the finish, or even in the next couple of days, this will make a great epic tale to present to the gullible masses. A courageous defeat, a bit like the Dunkirk spirit and all that.

I think it's called turning a negative in to a positive, in other words bullshitting.
