Good coach or not, some people are able to handle everything that is required to be successful at the highest levels of competition, and some people are not. It's that simple. You can talk all you want about being big time and wanting to be big time, but it means nothing if you can't get the job done on a sustainable level. Period.
Let me tell you about hiring someone who you feel will be loyal... some twenty something coach who will, every chance he gets, sleep with every athlete in the department.
Joe Lynn did nothing wrong? So he was fired because he did nothing wrong? We all know what happened. It's out there. He might know how to train athletes, but does not know how to relate to or treat athletes? And that's half or more of coaching. You have to have the people skills and he certainly doesn't.
LBST is not currently in talks with anyone. They aren't looking to hire anyone until at least sept. 1

Allen Johnson has jumped ship from Air Force. It is true that Air Force now has an opening for a sprint/hurdles coach.
Also, Long Beach State has not hired a distance coach yet. And their first meet of the season is in four days. I am starting to wonder if their head coach treats the distance position like a seat in congress because it comes up every two years. The turnover rate at Long Beach State is very alarming. I have underwear that has lasted longer than the last five Long Beach State distance coaches. I wish they would pretend that they care about distances over at LBST.
Guess it's time for you to get out then eh....
there is some type of track job open at Florida State. Maybe not an assistant but an operations job?

This is not a knock on any of the coaches that are being hired on a personal level, it just AMAZES me the number of coaches that I know who have very strong resumes with reagards to student retention, recruiting and producing results at conference and national levels that can't an opportunity. I suppose it does help that those that are getting hired can (and will) work for 30-35k.
