So Pattysue replaced him at UCSB? I thought she was added to the staff, but not at his expense.
Zarb would have brought back the team talent Dolan had but following NCAA rules. Not sure what resources he has at Northridge but I would’nt be surprised if CSNU is beating UCSB within a couple years if not sooner.
Maybe she will do great? Why all the low key negative female hate speech?
I'm sorry.....I worked with Zarb.......high energy??? Ummm, don't think so. And he went behind the head coaches back and spoke inappropriately. This is real. Thought he knew more than anyone else. Wouldn't get my vote.
SIU is a very difficult school to recruit to these days. In fact, all of the directional public colleges (except UIC Chicago and Illinois State) are facing deeply declining enrollments. In the 70's, the Illinois Intercollegiates were the equal of power conferences as EIU and SIU were really good Some of it is bound up with Illinois' finances - there is an exodus of people. And SIU has to convince Illinois kids from the Chicago area to go to the school 6 hours away. It used to be known for its cool vibe but that is no longer the case. And there is not enough talent to recruit locally in Little Egypt and Metro East. Not sure how I would approach recruiting there.
Previous director was making 10k more. Still very low for a head coach.
Huh. Almost like administrators at small schools with football know they're about to have to cut half the department so are offering the BARE MINIMUM to keep the programs on life support until they can officially cut them. Looks like that's happened with a number of job vacancies this summer...
First off- bull butter…. the only men who worked with Zarb were Scott at LMU and his new director at UCSB who let him go…… that’s all I got. You’re either a troll or the ucsb Director lying.
Misogyny is alive and well on this board, as always. She has three head coaching titles on her resume, and is taking over a D1 team that would Iose to many D3s in a dual meet. What is she not qualified for? I don't care what division or conference it's in, it won't be that different from where she's already coached.
Salty old dudes can't stand the sight of a woman being hired.
TALLAHASSEE – Florida State Director of Track and Field/ Cross Country Matt Kane announced on Friday four additions to his coaching staff for the 2024-25 sea...
Not a bad staff. Looks like the field events will be demphasized though. Throws coach hasn’t coached in years due to working with capital gifts at various Univ’s in Texas so could see him being a key fundraiser liaison for the program. Cawley doubling as DOPs with his head coaching experience makes sense.
Pretty wild to see someone who’s been out of coaching for a few years, getting a major P4 job. Even before that, his resume was mid at best. Just proves, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
I agree, but after looking at the staff and thinking back to the state of the program it seems that FSU has been slowly defunding the program, so his financial background makes sense. Remember in Braman’s press release he stated something along the lines of hoping the school will reinvest back into the program. I’m curious if salaries ever rebounded after Covid. Their staff seems to downsize every year since then.
