Can you read? I never said he has coaching ability... I was just merely pointing out that its very naive to think athletic ability has anything to do with coaching ability. Keep the bashing to experience and lack of knowledge
Yeah it does!
Let's clarify, if you have athletic ability (running ability and experience), and have been exposed to quality coaches and athletes, this will help you in terms of overall coaching success. The more experience and success you had as an athlete translates to the athlete you're coaching.

Right! Look at Khadevis Robinson. Great athlete, exposed to so much high level coaching. Greatest Coach there has ever been in NCAA!

Zero percent chance this is true. Majoc Johnson was a top 5 NBA player of all time. worst coach ever. Julius near same.... same coaching level. You need to be someone who can motivate, who can convince people to work hard and smart and believe anything is possible. You might have that as an athlete in your DNA, but that doesn't mean you can coach it.... and coaching it doesn't require the person to be a former elite athlete.

Can't it be both? There are coaches that were never athletes and are good coaches. There are great athletes that go on to be terrible coaches. But I would agree that some level of athletic background helps as a coach. Elite athletes do have an advantage when going into coaching but it doesn't mean automatic success.

🤡 if coaching only has to do with what you’re copying from previous coaches, that’s sad.
So people have and some people don't. Good, great or sorry athlete has nothing to do with your results as a coach. Carl Lewis has been able to coach at a high level and ran at a high level. Jordan the Goat has not done well running an NBA team. Coaching is a very complex profession. Kavocs was an outstanding athlete and now an outstanding coach. Coach AT was a great athlete and now a great coach. Coaching track and field is very detailed and complex, it's not easy. Our passion and commitment makes it look easy but it is far from that.

Yes and No.
I never said it was a requirement or prerequisite to be an elite athlete in order to be an athlete coach. Your examples of Magic and Julius (I'm assuming Dr. J), are team sport coaches, not an individual endurance sport coach which requires a different set of coaching skills. Here's an example; would you rather be coached in the 5000m/10000m by D. Ritz or the local high school track coach/part time math teacher? Hmmm... both ran in high school and college and understand the basic concepts of training-racing and are good people, but just a bit of difference in world class running experience. I'm not saying it's a 100% guarantee, but I'm liking my chances with Ritz. By the way, I think this idea works well in many aspects of athletics and life.
On what planet is Brosnan high level? Are you referring to his coffee?
IMO Planet Earth. IMO He will be the new LMU coach if he want's to be. IMO when you are regarded as the most successful HS coach ever, within a calendar year turned UCLA into a who's who before not gettinf resigned...If he wants the LMU job they would love to have him
SB should take the LMU job if its open, and validate how "Great" he is at the next level. He gets some collegiate experience and a chance to validate how good he is. He could do this with any school. It's not too complicated. The other option he has is to convince a shoe company and or other sponsors to invest in him as a pro coach. I believe SB is a good coach, but I'd like to see more results at the collegiate level before buying in, or even the pro level.
