Actually, I am for a strong border. I was not pleased with the way it was dealt with over the last four years. This is one thing I can agree with Trumpers on.
But, as a moral, upstanding person, there was just no way I could vote for someone like Trump.

No, I voted for a representative of the party which tried to reform the border through a bi-partisan legislative process, fixing the asylum loopholes which have allowed millions to be released into our country. I believe that fixing the law is infinitely better than ruling through executive orders, which end up challenged in court and overturned.
Unfortunately, someone else decided to throw a wrench into that legislative process so the border would stay broken and it would benefit him. The same someone who previously promised a wall that wasn't delivered (well, only 50 miles of wall), and who used taxpayer dollars instead of funds from another country. The same someone whose border policies benefited from a Covid state of emergency.
But yeah, either way, I want something done.

Executive orders, do in fact, often get challenged in the courts and overturned.
Trump did, in fact, only build 52 NEW miles of wall. Some existing wall was rebuilt (the pledge was "build a wall" not "renovate a wall").
He pledged that Mexico would pay for it. They did not.
And lastly, the Covid state of emergency allowed for much stricter border controls due to the public health crisis.
