Suds is a good coach!!! He runs his program similar to many high performing football, wrestling, and basketball programs…… what is he supposed to do coddle kids that are getting $200k worth of education with no accountability? These men and women will have to work a job one day with accountability and some might be very demanding…..I’m tired of distance runners having a snowflake minds. With the new scholarship allocation/rules coaches of sports that don’t generate revenue will be under immense pressure to perform. You don’t need to lose your dignity with how you treat young men and women but they have to be expected to perform and be great.
ISU alum. Same time as Sudbury. Makes sense with his success with another ISU person Crevoiserat and then success at EKU with internationals. Would he leave a team that good??? Brought in a 3:32 25 year old which who knows his eligibility??

Seriously. I’ve searched for a press release and the FSU roster page. Thankfully the forum came through with the information. I even found an article about the release of the schedule and the only person quoted was Kane.
Here's my theory with Sudbury & Rudolph: Martin Smith was at the point in his career where he was content to hand women's distance off to a reasonable caretaker so he could have it out of his hair. Sudbury is young & aggressive & sincerely wants to build a top 10 women's program that is as good as the men's. The obstacles to that are the quality of the Big 12 - Oklahoma State, BYU, Colorado & Utah are all formidable and have better recruiting footprints or situations than ISU, while the rest of the conference has become good at cherry picking 1-2 Africans who can score at 3, 5, & 10k. The one advantage ISU has is that, other than Oklahome State, the Midwest region is not great so they have a reasonable path to NCAA Cross Country every year. Rudolph was a very solid coach at ISU but was an average recruiter. The group that are juniors & seniors right now are not great. Rudolph needed to become a better (and more global) recruiter to take the team where Sudbury wanted to go and I think she just saw an easier path at Tennessee where she inheits a far better team than she leaves behind. It's probably a win/win if Sudbury, Wallace, & a new 3rd coach can better recruit a team that fits the vision.
If you had to coach at SIU you would lose your mind. Hasn’t been the same for distance since coach sparks was at the helm. Not sure why SIU doesn’t go back to being all in on distance. Illinois has a ton of distance talent.
When was SIU ever all in on distance? The last 6 head coaches have had balanced programs.
