I posted that John Broom was reading this thread and called out him and his missus being labelled "old bastards" - I have to add he seemed to find it 😂. That post was deleted for some reason
Wtf are you going on about? Konfuzied wouldn’t know a racing shoe from a flip flop and certainly isn’t capable of discerning what a good one is….his opinion is literally worthless on all things running. You can’t break something that is already broken. ‘Tis mostly sad he’s leaching money from a sport so devoid of it.
JourneyOfLee going for a sub 40 in his next 10k. Good luck to him. Brilliant new channel. Nearly hit 1000 subs already. Lace up and empty the tank.
Two running brooms with another 5k race. Another solid sub 20 for John and an outstanding time for Dawn. Age grading wise she’s one of the best out of the influencers.
ItsOnAndy with a 22 something parkrun on a tough trail route. Marathon training seems to be going well but Leeds is a tough one so would be surprised to see a PB.
Cole is running - 65 minute half. Got to be favourite to win the London battle between himself, Benisrunning & Bester. Bester probably has the lowest ceiling of the three but also the least likely to blow up so should be a good battle.
FOD a big fan of the Adi SL Evo. Adidas seems to be winning the shoe wars at the minute with the influences. The adios pro 4 and adios 9 all seem to be popular even with Nike super fans like Tim Gross
NRG runs with a decent Cambridge half (1:26 ish) - blew up slightly in the heat though to miss his sub 85 target
MARM with another majestic run at Cambridge. Makes a 83 minute 1/2 look effortless. Still time to mess around on course playing which Hugh.
Current influencers on the GloamGlozer moan list:
Matt Fox - guy just seems so arrogant/self obsessed
FordyRuns - bangs on about how honest he is the whole time but comes across as rude
Not great to see Ran to Japan trying to hero it through pain.
He seems a nice guy but he'll regret that in his thirties.
To be fair, the guy's whole approach has been to persevere no matter what, and it seems to have worked for him up to this point. You don't get to consistent 250km weeks without running through a lot of niggling injuries (any one of which could be a serious injury).
I'm sure he'll be able to troubleshoot the issue, and/or minimise the pain in order to run through it.
i queried this once when it was over 70mins - he said he had a phone call with his accountant. clearly does it to look good for the strava groupies but shows up in his soggy race performances.
im always baffled why all his runs are sub 7 minute mile pace, yet his marathons are in the 2:40-2:50 range -every run is basically a tempo session, no wonder he needs so many breaks
classic case of someone being completely uncoachable but able to do a few online courses and pass themselves off as a coach
poor Cole seems to need a decent coach - or follow his coaches instructions as no coach would advise what hes upto atm
seems determined to destroy himself. huge double threshold (the second session was sub 5km pace, not thresh hold) on Tues, 48 hours after his half marathon breakthrough followed by a 5km race Saturday evening another PB of 14:20 (great run)
then felt the need to get out early the next morning to run a marathon including 7/6/5/4/3/2/1km (all at a pretty poor pace) interupted with a huge amount of elapsed time and case of the sh1ts. why he did this 14 hours after banging out a 5km is bizarre and undoubtedly why the session was poor

That FordyRuns Fella was always cropping up in my targeted ad's trying to sell me Kendal Mint gels & now the YouTube algorithm is trying to put his videos in my feed.
Where does he sit on the shoetuber scale?
I am assuming not the quickest as his goal times/PB's are not obvious, with the quicker influencers slapping their times on every thumbnail.
Have to add that MARM is class, class content & great for picking out potential races as he runs local events (Sergio is ducking him & avoiding the showdown we need).

Fordy had another race last week, this time the Chelmsford HM when he went out for a time then "walked it in" from 11 miles. He still managed a decent 1:37 yet apparently is using London as a training run of 20 miles "goal pace" then walking in the last 6. Aim is to break 3:30 at Chicago (all his races obviously comped)
The man doesnt know how to train for a marathon. 5, 6k a day then belting out a 32k run on a sunday isn't the way.

Current favourite running youtuber, Crown My Run. No ads, no cringy sponsors, just three brothers trying to improve their times and race frequently. Noone else captures the mini-battles with random runners that take place during a typical parkrun quite like this channel, and the commentary is very amusing:
Not great to see Ran to Japan trying to hero it through pain.

100% agree while building towards a marathon, but he's recovering from one.
Does anyone need to be doubling and jumping straight into decent mileage straight after a marathon?

His new coach is Ellis Cross.
Interesting and curious given that Kent and indeed his own club is just loaded with super experienced coaches. As a matter of fact and no disrespect to Cross but his marathon coaching experience at this level is surely quite light atm. Though I guess he is in a great set up to learn.
The Norwegians will be laughing into their high tax bills when they read that the second part of a supposedly Double threshold day is a rep session quicker than 5k pace. He's obviously very good and making great progress but possibly not indestructible. In short term at least he's thriving anyway as 5k PB shows.
I’m sure there is no way Ellis Cross would have scheduled that week in or any coach for that matter. Probably got a late invite to the race and then was a hero on the Sunday saying legs felt fine. Obviously Cole is a fine runner but I fear he is making the same mistake a lot of runners make whereby they hit a nice hot streak of fitness and PBs and just keep racing as they feel invincible. I think the same happened to Ben is Running before he experienced his injury woes?

Just looked up Ellis - looks like a great runner; however, he's never ran a Marathon. He seems more like a track athlete. Probably quite focused on aerobic threshold and Vo2 max.
I am assuming live experience is important for an athlete dabbling in coaching. Perhaps I am wrong. I am really hoping Cole wins the shoetuber battle of London marathon

Cole has had injuries in the last year (was it a stress fracture?) and yet hasn't learnt his lesson

He’s well known for beating Mo Farah in The Vitality 10k a few years back so definitely no slouch!
