And on that note, let's all hold hands and say: yes, in this story, they were ALL douches (by definition of participating in the tri), the guy, the gal, the guy's husband, and all the deaf and blind people who they were helping who felt that by risking crashing and drowning during a TRIATHLON (3 events?? One after another?? OMG, OMG, OMG!!) they were inspiring us all to better lives.
(irony: somehow the blind and deaf athletes they were helping managed not to crash into anyone, but this woman [who I am sure "has it all", she proved that by doing the "tri", right? ] did manage to crash into the a-hole guy.

I'll give two examples.

Some foreign guy was walking in the running/biking lane in one of the most popular spots in Atlanta. he had a six foot walking stick over his back, perpendicular to his body. bikers were swerving to get around him, as he was taking up the entire bike/running lane. I was finishing up a long run and just stopped and tried to talk to him, telling him that he was putting others at risk. of course he didn't speak english, but managed to show him.
2. i see a lot of female runners or bikers going very slow, side by side, in the wrong direction, on busy roads during rush hour, etc. I have tried talking to a few of them and let them know that if nothing else they were putting themselves at risk, but they generally laughed.
as i get older, though, how pathetic am i going to be in telling people off? not very.

After being "attacked" by those non-attentive walkers on almost every place I can think of (bike/running trails, outdoor tracks, indoor tracks, treadmills in a gym) and suffering multiple injuries as a result, I have come to the conclusion that those people will NEVER learn any etiquette. People like this "kind and forgiving" Alison make me puke.
This would have been much cooler if it was tough mudder or a color run.

I doubt that it would completely incriminate Alison, but I am sure it would help people to understand that she was also at fault, or at worst, it wasn't as bad as Alison or the male blogger are making it out to be.
I am not sure why so many people think it would be so easy to move out of the way if she backed into you. If you are cruising along at a decent pace and focused straight ahead and someone backed into you at the last second, you would either need to shove them out of the way, or do worse damage by running into them.
Maybe, but for any man with a shred of dignity the first response would be to start profusely apologizing, not keep running like an Olympic medal is on the line.

Also, she was fat which kinda makes it OK, after all if there's one thing on LR we hate more than triathletes and show ponies (same thing really) and course cutters/cheaters it's fat people.

Wow, she is desperate for sympathy and attention.
I know women like this; I jog by them every day. If you ignore them, they actual start doing/saying things to make you notice them. In my experience, it can get pretty passive aggressive.
Based on her 'modest' blog entry with all the flowers/love/children/you-can't-hate-me-i'm-too-perfect rhetoric, I'm drawing a new conclusion on the character of Alison; a character that would SEE someone coming and think to themselves (consciously or subconsciously): "they'll yield for me, they have to, I'm in the right because I'm with my family, they're in the wrong because they're being too competitive/mean."
I'm shifting my blame scale: 85% Alison/15% Blair.
I really want to see this video so that I'm proven wrong but I would not be surprised if she nearly purposely moved into this guy's running path at this point in the debate.
