She even says her pal who went on a recruiting trip to Toledo, said that Hadsell did nothing wrong at all, but of course she now says she always had a feeling. Just like the stuff people are saying about Oscar Pistorious always having a temper. Good lord, everyone has a tenper! Doesn't mean I wanna kill folks. Well if people are so god damn smart why don't they use vision for looking forward and not just in hindsight?

No, given the asymmetry in the inherent nature of the situation, the rules say that the person in the superior position may not and shall not have an intimate relationship with someone in the subordinate position [sometimes, there is a clause that says that they must inform the supervisor first, as was the case in the Univ. of Texas, Austin rules, but clearly Hadsell did NOT inform his supervisor].

If this type of situation automatically leads to discipline that will have as a possibility and a likely outcome termination for cause, then IT IS A BAD THING. The person in the subordinate position does not have the same power as the superior and thus the rules (and to some extent the law) requires a higher standard of behavior from the subordinate, and 'consenting adults' is NOT a defense whatsoever. This is not and cannot be an ordinary boyfriend - girlfriend situation, and this is thus not in the category of HE SAID/SHE SAID. Did you notice he resigned in preference to being summarily fired.

Any post that goes into what the other person was doing or how they are a bitch or psycho are COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT to the issue at hand. Hadsell was essentially fired and he deserved to be fired (and he know the rules because he often referred to 'then I am f****d').

There is one and only one person in the wrong in this story, that person is male and was the supervisor/superior and he demonstrated that he cannot be trusted with that position.

That doesn't jibe with the "rules" of sexual harassment that were posted a couple of posts ago. It clearly states that the sexual conduct must be "unwelcome", in order to constitute harassment.

How the hell you actually prove that, I don't know. What if it was very "welcome" at the time, and minds were changed later? I'm not saying this applies to the current situation, but it could be interesting in other scenarios, and perhaps be a reason why the institution involved would rather have the coach/administrator/teacher resign, rather than get involved in a lawsuit over what was welcome or not.

It could not really be more obvious that: This coach did all sorts of shaaaaaaaady things that demanded that he step down from his position.

Also obvious that: Whatever he was guilty of, it wasn't sexual harassment. Shit if anything he's guilty of tons of innuendo and NOT following through....he didn't make ENOUGH advances to make the harpy who went to HR happy.

Once again: Horndog, broke school policy, unethical, crossed lines over and over, YES. Broke laws, came onto an unwilling party, had sex with an active member of team, etc, NO. At least not from what anyone has said that is involved.

So I'm wondering if some of you people actually read the deadspin article. This isn't just about Emma. This is about so much more. I personally think driving drunk in a van full of girls is much worse than any of this sexual harassment. The article isn't just one person giving information. We're talking about at least a dozen former athletes saying this stuff. I was actually interviewed by Doug and what little I did say, he quoted me directly, so I can only believe that every other quote in the article is 100% verbatim as well. I've met Emma before and I can only say good things about her. Very down to earth. But regardless of what anyone thinks of her, whether you think she is bat-shit crazy or a great person, Hadsell broke the rules. He could have been fired for multiple things and it just so happened that the sexual harassment that got him. And I personally think that every single person defending him so strongly on here is either a very good friend of his, someone who is currently intimate with him, or Hadsell himself. It's pretty cowardly to throw Emma's name all over this website and make her look like a terrible person while you're saying it anonymously. I hope other people following this thread would know better than to get sucked in to all of this name calling. What's happened has happened and we (everyone involved in this situation) can only move forward. So I'll end with this: Ali, give it a rest.

Thanks, Rulesarerules. I've been wondering why no one's brought up the other women and men the reporter mentioned. Any inappropriate behavior with any athlete over his career is justification for getting rid of him.

Age of consent, and whether or not any of his athletes had feelings for him, is irrelevant. One look at the IOC's page on the "stages of grooming" for coaches seeking out vulnerable athletes for sexual harassment or abuse, reads like the steps to an emotional/sexually abusive relationship. Of course, unlike those relationships, coaches are in a position of power.

One of the researchers, Celia Brackenridge, goes on to mention in a PDF on the page that these problems get even worse for an elite athlete:

"Survey data from Australia (15), the Czech Republic (16), Norway (17) and Belgium (18) show that, the higher an athlete progresses up the sporting talent ladder, the greater the risks of being exploited sexually."

2. What kind of man refers to a college age girl as a "shit bag"? Perhaps that term is best confined to describe your self.

3. Any professional coach who has slept with one of his athletes, let alone come even close to it, should be fired.

I hate what Kevin Hadsell has done to these young ladies.

1. We all admit that he did wrong. The only disagreement is to what degree he did wrong.

2. He is accused of manipulating the minds of young women.

3. Many of these women are coming to his defense.

THAT IS THE PROBLEM. By defending a man that nearly everyone agrees was wrong (see #1), you are admitting that he has manipulated you (see #2). So your defense is proving his guilt.

I hope they throw this loser in jail. and I give props to any woman that has the guts to speak out against this loser, you deserve 100% credit no matter how much you were involved. You are all heroes and this man is a sick human being. I draw my conclusion from his defenders.

If this finally winds its way to the obvious "string him up by his nuts" moment then I will gladly provide the string.

Yes Hadsell said he was interested in Emma. But why would Emma go out of her way to say she's interested back? You think that this is a one sided conversation? Deadspin claims that as soon as Emma started dating another guy Hadsell lets off all communication with her? Funny that her and this guy she is dating became official BEFORE all this happened ..... Odd that Emma would initiate being into someone while she's in a Facebook official relationship. I mean it was Facebook official??? That's a serious commitment . If I was her boyfriend id question if she's cheated on him already......

Also lets not forget that the blade states he received a gift at the end of October from her ... With a nice sappy quote from her ... Was that because he was a victim in all this ???? Who does that? Did she have to get him a gift ? No. Was the sappy note forced ? No? I wonder what hadsells old assistant coach _____ has to say about all of this happening ? If there was all this mysterious text messaging happening was------ aware of this ? Is that why she left ? Why wouldn't she tell the enforcers about what was going on?

The coach is ultimately responsible. He had the authority and obligation to shut down any type of "flirting" or "interest" or pursuit of anything other than coach/athlete relationship. It is apparent that he not only allowed these behaviors and interactions to continue, he created an atmosphere that encouraged them and explicitly pursued relationships that crossed the line. The bottom line is that if he did not want this type of behavior on the team, he could have stopped it in its tracks from the very beginning. He did not. He is at fault, and he is responsible regardless of anyone else's behavior or actions.

It is impossible for a coach to screw an athlete without: a) giving them a ride in his car; b) letting them sleep in his house; c) renting a hotel room..... heck even buying condoms.

For UT not to follow up on the relationship allegation and just let Hadsell walk shows lack of due diligence from an NCAA responsibility stand point.

If, and I do say if, you had followed this story at all, you would know the basics. Someone who is not among the many Special Ed candidates here can correct me if I am wrong but I gather these as the facts/claims:

1, KH had a relationship with BS a decade ago and there is no evidence that it started when he was her coach, tho at this point it wouldn't matter except in terms of his rep.

2, KH is alleged by EK, the runner who sparked all of this to have had a relationship with AF, an assistant coach who was formerly on the team - shades of BS. Hadsell's texts to EK say that he would have hooked up with her if she wasn't a psycho. Since KH was denying having relationship with AF even to someone he was (stupidly, it turns out) confiding in it is questionable that it happened, and if it did she was a coach at the time so not an issue.

3, EK, who turned over some texts while erasing many of her own admits that she and KH never had a relationship. She says he was pursuing one, he and other members of the Toledo team say she was obsessed with him and he wouldn't reciprocate except at the sexting level.

So all sorts of messes all around and IMO they all look like turds, but you seem to have as much of a grip on the details as you do on Sanskrit, assuming you are not a scholar of that language, so I hope this clears up confusion.
