Novarro>Yernye
Novarro>Yernye
When do on-campus practices begin (I realize it may vary from school to school)? This week?
Yernye's run 15:04, Novara's run 15:06. Yernye had the better outdoor season, he gets the edge.
so what individuals will go to nattys if the AR gets the 5 team max? 3 team minimum?
most will start on the 23rd

Just because Yernye had the better outdoor season doesn't mean anything, there is a huge gap between seasons. Besides cross-country is different than a 5k on a track and besides Novara had a better XC season than Yernye. Yernye may be better on the track but Novara has the edge in cross.
your right, i completely agree...yernye spend the end of his xc season trying to figure out who and where he was after taking a knee to the side of his head
Predicitions of last years top 10 for 2009:
1. Cortland: Henry and Nally graduating out of top 7, but they've got a lot of seniors returning looking for a good year, and without a doubt they'll find people to fill the void
2. NYU: Schneider and Hess of last years top 7 no longer on the roster, they'r gonna need people to step up.
3. Geneseo: Only losing Dolan for their top 7, it won't be hard for them to find another pack runner and possibly take that second spot.
4. SLU: only losing #7 Burnham. With some good seniors coming back.
5. Plattsburg: Only loses #7 Ver. With improvement fomr experience alone, they could easily make a big impact this year.
6. TCNJ: Loses #1, #4, and #5 I don't think they have it in them to beat out Plattsburg if they have another strong year.
7. Ithaca: Loses #4 Shea, and with good improvement could close in on TCNJ
8. Fredonia: Loses #6 Walters. They've been saying a lot about how awesome they're gonna be this year, but all of the teams have been improving. I'd expect improvement, but not top 5.
9. Brockport: Loses #3 Teed and #6 Cocquyt. From the score they barely beat out Hamilton, so who knows, another upset. Who knows what Pete's doing nowadays...
10. Hamilton: Loses no one in the top 7 and Kosgei FTW. with that big fat 1 in their score, who knows... maybe the rest of the team could pull its weight.
New top 10:
1. Cortland
2. Geneseo
3. NYU
4. SLU
5. Plattsburg
6. Ithaca
7. Fredonia
8. TCNJ
9. Hamilton
10. Brockport
as for the rest, I have my doubts that RIT or UofR could do much more than get into the top 10...if that.
ill take "u suck" for 400 al wrote:

f by only #7 Ver you also mean Ben Jackson and Paul Allison (both from their top 7) then yes. for that matter Reubens isn't returning for Geneseo and I'd probably start to question more of your predictions if I knew more about the other teams. what is "u DO suck" alex. that is CORRECT!

Predictions:
Men:
1 - Geneseo. Return 6 guys from the 8th place team at Nats, which didn't include O'Connor (sub-15:00 indoor 5k), Gabler (sub-4:20 miler) or Haskell (9:20ish steeple). Only problem I can see is a lack of consistency from time to time. However, they have the talent to have nearly 10 guys sub-26:00 on any given day, which overrides the occasional inconsistency.
2 - Cortland. Very close to Geneseo, and very talented. 2 main reasons I picked Geneseo over them. 1) I didn't like what happened to them in outdoor track. They straight up did not show for outdoor SUNYACS, and it wasn't just an off day. If they continue to have this team disfunction and supposed disconnect with their coach, then that will certainly hurt them. 2) I'm interested to see how O'Brien does. He's an absolute stud in the steeple, but hasn't shown that same talent in any other event, track or XC. I'm not trying to rag on him, I'm just saying he's an unknown. His steeple time indicates he could probably run well under 25:00. If he does that, Cortland could edge past Geneseo.
3 - NYU. Always well coach and talented. Maher could be an animal this year. Not far behind Geneseo or Cortland for sure.
4 - SLU. Tremendously talented, somewhat inconsistent, not terribly deep. That top 5 is scary with potential. If they can get all their horses running on the same day, they won't be easy for anyone to beat. However, an off day by 1 or 2 guys could be disastrous for them, which is why they get the 4th spot.
5 - I like RIT if they can get their co-op guys running like they were. If that's not the case, I like Plattsburgh with Heymann and Yernye as one of the best 1-2's in the region.
i can't disagree with anything about these predictions. nice job!
Any teams opening this weekend?
Teams cannot compete this weekend. Sept. 1 (unless 8/31 is a Friday or Saturday) is the starting date, which is a Tuesday so most teams that compete at the first opportunity will run on the 4th or 5th.
1 SUNY Cortland
2 SUNY Geneseo
3 NYU
4 St. Lawrence
5 Plattsburgh State
6 TCNJ
7 SUNY Fredonia
8 Ithaca
9 Hamilton
10 SUNY Brockport

First Rankings out.
is this a new rule? i know last year some teams opened up on 8/30 (i realize that's not that big of a difference)
hahahahahahahahaha check out the logo next to Geneseo
BF, thanks for link to rankings. Women's rankings at the same source:
1 SUNY Cortland
2 SUNY Geneseo
3 St. Lawrence
4 Plattsburgh State
5 TCNJ
6 Ithaca
7 NYU
8 SUNY Brockport
9 Hamilton
10 Rochester
Top six, rather predictable; next four, all a little surprising to me. (I don't recall last year's Regional results and can't seem to find them online.) Did those schools recruit well and/or return lots? Also, no joy for Vassar?
First off, I wanted to thank everyone for the support over the past few months. It's been a trying time for me and my family, but we must live and grow. Second, Coach Jennings at TCNJ should have an Atlantic Region website up sometime in the near future. Until then, the old site is still active (although I can't update it anymore),
http://www.acs.brockport.edu/~mkrueger/Atlantic_CC/home.htm
.
To all those competing, good luck and enjoy life.
Mark, thanks for re-linking, and for all your past work. All the best to you and yours.
With Mark's link I was able to see that the teams who are 7-10 in the current poll finished 7-10 (though in different order) at Regionals last year. "Mystery" solved.
