U.S. Recon Marine/Navy SEAL vs. UFC Fighter: Who Wins?

We all know what a phony show is, unlike you. That's for sure.

this question puzzles me since it is on a forum focused on training and dedication to achieving one's best and winning

so is the question what would happen if we took a seal and a MMA off the street and surprised them with a deathmatch?

presumably the MMA would prevail in a surprise MMA fight and the seal in a surprise tactical weapon fight

its like asking whether usain bolt would beat a high school state champ at the 5k, interresting only because we are mixing and matching

in the end i would say the seal's motivation is survival and the mma is used to rules and $ or pride motivation, so i would give the edge to the seal who has been prepared to respond under such stress

that could change if the mma had such training

Most people who think the Seal would win are saying that they would be able to get some type of death hold on the mma fighter. The mma fighters are trained to see things like this coming. They wouldn’t just let a Seal come up to them and put them in some kind of death hold. People are also saying that the mma fighter wouldn’t be used to fighting to the death, and that it would be too hard for them to switch into a killer mode. I strongly disagree. The mma fighters already know killer moves, they just have to do the moves longer than when in the octagon. Instead of letting their opponent out of the choke hold, they would just keep it going until the Seal died. It’s silly to believe that the mma fighter wouldn’t know killer moves; they do this type of training all day, unlike the Seal. I believe some people are also wrongly accusing people of disrespecting the military just because they don’t think a Seal would win the fight. It doesn’t mean you’re a coward or disrespectful just because you believe someone outside the military would win the fight. It’s not like we’re saying the soldiers are wimpy losers.

Please stop the liberal spin job on Hollywood stunt shows. It's a show, people. An act. Like the movie GI Joe. Your childish talk has gotten old aready.

Eh, in all my experiences I have always come across people deciding to find another use of entertainment. Leave the sport to athletes and the killing to soldiers, there is no need for extra bloodshed.

Idealistic:

There are no rules and no cages, plus no weapons. If smart, like every killer is trained to do, don't get caught up in a hand to hand ever unless needed, stalk your prey. Kill or be killed, no limits, search and destroy, who honestly do you think would know how to do this best? The ones who are trained to do so, which are neither UFC nor SEAL. The ones who train to kill are the ones who look to kill, pure animals at heart, those who only aim for one thing and that is not to protect or to win a prize, but to cause havoc. Fights always vary based on a situation and circumstances, it is always a 50/50 when it comes to fighting, anything can happen. I leave your games, so have fun and bicker over a subject that really has no definite answer. Those who say SEALS are trained to kill are wrong, they are trained to defend, and those who say that UFC fighters are fighting machines are wrong, they are athletes none the less. Fighting relies on the inevitable...

ufc fighters are trained to knock out or submission....marines are trained to kill marines are skilled in hand to hand and use pressure point which are much more effective to kill rather than knock somebody out....and yes also for people who say that fights are more second nature to a ufc fighter think about the skills you gain putting your life on the line instead of in a monitored ring

I can't believe so many people are picking the SEAL. To pick at random, I'm quite certain GSP could take any SEAL under about 250 lbs. Yes, the SEAL is highly trained and more used to fighting to kill. But in GSP we're talking about one of the best hand-to-hand fighters on the planet. If you think the stress of fighting BJ Penn is much different from the stress of fighting for your life, you're pretty dumb. At that level of skill, it's mostly instinct, and your instincts don't know that there are rules that will save you at the end. And the argument that MMA fighters don't know killer moves is just idiotic. To kill someone, you (a) don't let go of the choke when he's taping, (b) kick him in all the spots you know to avoid in a fight with rules, or (c) just keep punching him in the head after he's down.

cmon guys, marines and SEAL know only how to shoot children / women from the distance. This is what they are paid for. They are taught few dirty tricks in case of hand-to-hand combat, but without years of sacrified training, dirty trick will works only against children and women.

The Navy, AF, Army branches have scout outfits for older late-20s, 30ish career track lifers. They have weeks in the rear at the Marriott Hotel to plan operations. Plus they have $billions of aircraft carriers, fighter aircraft, drones, Apache Helos, low earth orbit satellites, and battalions of regular soldiers as part of the operations to minimize risk.

The stuntmen who do acting, MMA, UFC train in gyms and have amazing PPV TV shows but they can't street fight w/o coaches/referees to protect them. They have lawyers and their mothers ringside to ensure their safety.
