Henes will be better able to read their tea leaves, but maybe she tells Gapes, Putman, Rauber, Napoleon's, etc., to run at just 80% effort for Regionals.
Perhaps but Hartman and Gapes will not run all three meets. With Hartman it almost assuredly will be the regional meet she sits out. With Gapes it will be either regional or ACCs.

Special treatment for Gapes, but not for SE, Michalak, Putman and Rauber where the real difference making points are dropped?

This is Henes’s deepest roster ever (although still not BYU deep). She should take advantage of it and gives some of her established Top 7 a race off where she can. The Southeast Regional is usually a measured-effort affair, which helps since NCAAs are only 8 days away. Although the ACC Championship is important, it is not the end goal for this team … so maybe a couple women will take that race off.
Henes has said Grace will likely only run 2 of the 3 postseason meets. Gapes, Rauber and Putman all look like they could benefit from sitting a meet out and racing on fresher legs at NCAAs, but maybe Henes is right that some of the disappointing results at Nuttycombe were truly a result of the hard training block they were in.
Whatever happens, this should be an exciting postseason for fans of BYU, NC State, Oregon, New Mexico, Florida, Notre Dame and maybe even WVU and Alabama.
The freshman Moroccan that won the Crimson Classic by 15sec might make top 10.
She won it in 18:40. Doris and Tuwei ran it in 19:04 last year, with Jelelgo not too far behind in 19:07.
She is part of my sleeper pick for this season, South Carolina. But she did get beat by Bonner Dalton and Zealand at the Joe Piane. Jemutai of AL who finished 2nd in the Classic ran 19:44 at Gans Creek in September (1 minute slower than Hedengren in October). Right now I would guess 40-50 for her at Nationals. Let's see how she does at the SEC Championship and then Southeast Regional.

By winning Nuttycombe, the team has already come close to earning at least an at-large bid for Natty’s, right? Seems they could consequently bomb Conference and place 4th or better at Regionals in the process of trying to peak for Natty’s.
When you go into LACCTiC, click the “Include inactive runners box” guess which sleeper team doesn’t even show up in the list of top 35? Flying a bit under the radar?

I’ll let you first guess which team I’m referring to, but surely, that has to be a bug in the LACCTiC matrix? (Unless the developer of LACCTiC is aiding in a conspiracy to pull off a huge upset at Natty’s. 👀)
ACC's are a big deal for any of these teams. All the relevant teams with go as hard as possible to try to win it. These are markers that go down for posterity and an AD with limited running knowledge will certainly be looking at the results. Maybe not as important as Nationals, but very, very important. Its nice to have depth, but expect the best runners there.
Winning, or placing 2nd at least, will earn a team an at-large bid, allowing them to lay off of Regionals in order to peak for Natty’s.
Sean Brosnan had his Newbury Park kids hit their big workout 10 days out from the big dance. Regionals, being only a week removed from Natty’s, is possibly not enough time to recover and get full supercompensation for some of these athletes.

Wow, that is brilliant that Sean did that. I wonder if any other coaches knew about this ground breaking idea and have done anything similar. So much to learn!!!

Guys, if the rest of the NCAA coaches catch on to this and other revolutionary ideas, the NCAA might be in for a massive shift in performance. We could see him completely changing the NCAA landscape just like he did in high school. #nolimits #420justisntfast

Once again our esteemed OP hooked the Sean Brosnan haters.

It’s too easy to reel them in. Sean Brosnan is out and about, on NPR, traveling to the Olympics, writing a book, and yet, the jealous Brosnan haters can’t seem to let it go.
I may be wrong but I believe that an individual on a team that qualifies can run in the championship meet as the only meet of the season. Last year Amy Bunnage of Stanford only ran in the West regional prior to the championship.
Correct. A coach needs to submit a list of ten runners for the regional and national. If a runner still has eligibility left, she can run either or both races if she is on the list. If she doesn’t have eligibility, the coach needs to raise their voice to Taylor’s level so a waiver can be granted.
There is no single deadline for declaring the NCAA Division I cross country roster ; rather, the deadline to be included on the final roster submission for championships is typically set closer to the event, while the deadline for regular season roster management is often around June 30th, according to this Streamline Athletes article. The specific date for championships depends on the year's calendar, but the 2025 national championship selection show is scheduled for November 15, 2025.
