They are all talk. They could have released the files when Biden was president. It is obvious that they have nothing on Trump. They are protecting themselves and their donors.
You mean the Democrats that started the petition to release the files? The one that majority of Republicans didn't sign? The same Democrats???
Precisely. They generate good publicity by saying they want to release them even though they had control for four years and didn't do it. When given an immediate vote yesterday they immediately turned it down. Their base is easily fooled.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old." pic.twitter.com/a7wmT3BRJU
Lol...Democrats wanted SOOOOooo bad to take out Trump and they failed again....Aint it sweet.
“I think it's going to get at least 50 Republican votes. Wouldn't shock me if it's 100. And so I think if I were Attorney General Pam Bondi, I would begin to feed the sharks.”
And there would be many, many more Republicans votes if the White House hadn’t been applying pressure.
Not a primary concern for me whether this would “take out Trump” or who it would or would not put under the microscope. The major problem is it’s bound to be less of a revelation than it ought to be. Numerous bad actors will go unpunished, we will not know who many of them are, and continued speculation may be part of the rot.
It’s also not really a situation where Bondi, Bongino, and Patel can save a lot of face about how their remarks seemed to vary at times. The twist and sequence of remarks/events went way beyond the change you might get from someone who went from being an outsider to an insider with greater access to the case, but did so in a forthright manner.
But the key point at the moment, even though the slam on Kelly is juvenile, is that you can see people all over twist and contort their positions based on who is involved rather than on principle. And I’d kind of hope that crimes of this nature would be the sort that might make some people stand up and say “STOP,” and feel a united sense of concern about crimes like these.
Of course, the issue is so charged that many people will take the least bit of insinuation as irrefutable evidence, and so it’s understandable to guard against hasty partisan “trial” in the public sphere of anyone.
But access to facts that respects the victims’ rights has long seemed reasonable, no matter who has been in office or when.
And even if there is no reckoning, this can at least be be one means of chipping away at the kind of anti-democratic, anti-justice forces involved in the powerful taking a blind eye (at the very least) to the crimes of wealthy and powerful private citizens.
Megyn Kelly trying to splice this up into MAGA accepting any difference between an 8-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl for imprudent intentions is sheer desperation and shows her own low self-esteem. It's a win for all the MAGA predators and miscellaneous MAGA creeps out there who watch her podcast.
Common sense tells us 15-year-old females are not pieces of meat for the privileged elite who think they are Ted Nugent around 1976.

It is pretty amazing to see the M#GA faithful and aligned right wingers having to wade into the issue of the sexual debut of girls and implicitly admit that girls are sexually active in their early teens. Heretofore, the issue was well settled among right wingers. Girls saved themselves for marriage because that is what Jesus said they had to do. But if they really meant that, then Megyn Kelly would not be able to argue that there is a difference between sex with a pre-pubescent girl and a girl in her teens. Both are a sin against God if the bible is where you are coming from.
And this then lands Kelly right into the very difficult issue of age of consent laws. In France, the age of consent is just 15. That is actually in line with most social norms in France about the acceptable age for kids to become sexually active. The majority of US states are at 16, with others at 17 or 18. And then there are some states that also put age gap into the equation so a 17 year old is not accused of statutory rape when having sex with a 15 year old girl friend.
So, if M#GA is now going to take a stance against somewhat puritanical age of consent laws and conservative social norms on sex before marriage, that may not be such a bad thing. But that in no way diminishes what Epstein did. Epstein and Maxwell intentionally targeted emotionally vulnerable girls. Virginia Giuffre had previously been a runaway, was in juvenile detention and had been sexually abused. She was lured into the Epstein circle with promises of being trained to be a professional massage therapist and getting to be around very wealthy people with the fringe benefits of fancy parties, travel, etc. She was then forced to have sex with Epstein in order to remain in that inner circle and then trafficked to a number of wealthy and powerful people.
At this point, the age of consent and differences between a pedophile who seeks out prepubescent children versus children who are on the borderline between being deemed to have the capacity to consent almost become irrelevant. Epstein did not target young girls because he was into "barely legal". He targeted young girls because they were easier to dominate psychologically in order to be able to traffic them.
I dated 15-year-old girls when I was 17 because I was near the top of the list of my school's all-time great runner dudes but otherwise a normal high school kid much loved by everyone. There wasn't anything aberrational going on. But adults who manipulate 15-year-olds into acting much older than they actually are with false promises are a special kind of evil. Megyn Kelly's fans would say no, they are not. Nothing sleazy and advantageous going on at all. It's the guys who like 8-year-olds who are far more whacked out of their minds.
