It is very shameful that some people choose to go this route of bigotry, and racism! Only people with lesser mental capabilities are excused to do so!
Everyone should be given a benefit of doubt, considered innocent until proven guilty, and be treated based on facts and facts only.
Wanyonyi emerged in 2021, winning world juniors ( 1'43"9x ).
In 2022, he barely missed the medals when he finished 4th at the World championships in Eugene, Oregon. He ran 1'44"00.
In 2023, he was in contention for a win in most races and won some. He ended 2023 with a silver at the World championship behind Marco Arop. 2023 PB was 1'42"8.
2024: There were faster times across the board in the 800m with as many as 5 running 1'41. That group included USA's Brice Hoppel ( 1'41"67 ). Wanyonyi ran 1'41 at least 5 times including his current PB ( 1'41"11 ). If we are to argue that faster times equates to doping, then no less than 10 athletes in the 800m were doping last year! That includes Brice Hoppel. If that be the case, that reasoning should apply to other events.
Nicole Young, Beatrice Chebet, Grant Fisher, Quincy Wilson, Faith Kipyegon etc Would all be guilty of doping!
Every athlete needs to be treated individually with their history given weight. For example Faith Kipyegon has been dominant in her event for more than 8 years now and anyone who has followed her progress saw her World records even before she broke them.
The case of Ruth Chepngetich is unfortunate. I do not believe she has been doping all along. She has been one of the top marathon runners at least since 2019 when she won the world championships in Doha. She competed in Chicago for at least 2 times before last year when she broke the world record.
In both cases, she went out in like 2:10 pace which she tried to maintain upto 30Km then her wheels came off! Still, in one of her races, she ran 2:14:18, which was only 14 seconds slower than Bridgid Kosgei's then world record 2:14'04). So if we are to argue that she was doping for all these 6 years, it means WADA and AIU are incapable of their job which then means even your favorite athlete could be doping! Who do we believe? Experts or keyboard warriors?
