Don't let Winston/Adult/Eddy and the crew of hardly literate Trumpers derail the conversation here. It doesn't matter that Hillary f'ed up a decade ago. Obama's and Biden's foreign policy blunders don't matter here. It doesn't matter that Hunter Biden is an absolute mess.
None of these things have bearing on the fact that US government officials were illegally using an unsecured channel to formulate, discuss, and execute war plans. This is a massive intelligence oversight and put the lives of people in theater as well as active intelligence officers at risk. Such a system of communication has multiple points of failure that could have been (and may have been) easily exploited by bad guys. Moreover, they unwittingly added a civilian JOURNALIST to their little chat group, who easily could have continued gathering classified information and leaked it to the public or to adversaries.
Just like with Hillary's emails, the fact that these comms weren't done through official channels also means that this info couldn't be FOIA'd or audited by an internal agency or congressional committee, which is very troubling. Officials of any country, but especially a republic, should not act in official capacity without accountability or impunity.
As if they needed yet another reason to distrust the USA, this sends a message to our allies is that we cannot be trusted with sensitive intelligence. Say what you want about "America First" or wanting to go at it alone or that we're getting the short end of some proverbial stick, but the fact of the matter is that intelligence sharing with trusted nations makes America a safer place and protects our interests both at home and abroad.
The way that these officials talk about the attack itself is very troubling, too. Dozens of people were killed and injured in the missile strikes, including children and civilians, and our leaders are celebrating with emojis. It's like it's just a video game to them, not actual people's lives that they are ending or changing forever. It's ironic that Trump campaigned on "no more wars," but we're just seeing the same aggressive foreign intervention we've seen since Bush.
This is a major f up and we have no reason to believe similar or bigger f ups haven't happened with this admin already.
