Of course Russia was behind this whole controversy but and unlike when I was a child, conservatives including many here love Putin and Russia " Putin yanks peoples chain including on Letsrun and the roll over like little puppies. So you can thank Putin for this whole thread!
Male advantage in physical activity is present from birth. Look at any kid's sport. Males have a physical advantage in sports before puberty and it is enhanced after puberty. Puberty blockers do nothing to blunt this advantage. They just bad for those whoe take them.
Who said anything about puberty blockers or athletic ability? I'm talking about DSD's characterised by an absence of androgen production by the gonads (Swyer syndrome) or a complete insensitivity to androgens (CAIS). Individuals with the aforementioned DSD's are male but it's silly to refer to them as men.
"The Algerian boxer was born female, was registered female, lived her life as a female, has a female passport," the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said in a press conference on Friday.

Ok, Mr pedant. Nobody becomes a man who isn't born male, so those born male become a man when they achieve adulthood - and we are talking about an adult here. The boxer has gone through puberty - so that point is irrelevant, we aren't talking about kids - and if they are XY with male levels of testosterone that's a man. They weren't born female, or mysteriously became so later in their life.
total transphobia right there. denying trans exists. bad bad bad. your true self slipped out again.
A trans person doesn't become a biological male or female by identifying as one. You can call it transphobic but it is also science.

BTW, healthy males get a kick of androgens during gestation and again in infancy (male mini puberty).

Those aren't the DSD males with male testosterone who can virtually knock a woman out of the ring. They wouldn't be competing in the Olympics. An irrelevant and specious digression.

You know that there’s a difference between sex and gender? Sex is a biological trait while gender has to do with how you’re perceived in society. This is how many cultures throughout history have had three or more genders in their societies.
It’s difficult because she was born this way but I don’t think you can have someone with that level of testosterone like this boxer competing against women, especially in a combat sport.
I do know that sex and gender are often used differently. I am referring to biological sex. What a person identifies as doesn't change that. It is a crucial distinction in sports.
It is not a phobia to base an opinion on vetted, peer-reviewed science as opposed to ideologically driven "science" designed to bolster a false premise. It is not hate to state the truth. It is not unkind to stand up for the rights of women and girls for fair, safe sports and spaces. If name calling is all you have, you have nothing.
XY is male, period, end of story. They are referred to as men because they are men.
But they aren't referred to as men. People with Swyer syndrome or CAIS have never been referred to as men. A 12 year old boy is more of man than they'll ever be, and pre-pubescent boys aren't referred to as men either.

This has nothing to do with leftoid gender ideology, btw.

If you never go through male puberty, you never become a man. Some 46 XY DSD's prevent males from developing into men because they prevent male puberty.
Round and round the mulberry bush. We are not talking about individuals who haven't gone through puberty. We are discussing a person who claims to be a woman knocking a woman around an Olympic boxing ring like a punch bag.
The difference is that in boxing, it’s a safety issue.
Too many people are being fooled by a lot of gaslighting on this topic. When you watch the footage, what do you see?
Khelif has been boxing as a woman for several years, has lost nine times, and is not known to be a particularly heavy puncher.
The Italian boxer was warned not to fight Khelif, was probably terrified, and I think she over reacted to getting punched.
She didn't describe it like that. She found she had never experienced being hit by a woman like the way Khelif hit her. The Algerian may not be a skilled boxer - which is why she has lost bouts - but if she connects she clearly packs a punch, as they say. I referred earlier to a study that showed even comparatively weak men can punch harder than the strongest women. If Khelif is DSD male - which is what high levels of testosterone suggest - then "she" has that advantage. It can clearly also be traumatic for a woman to face that.

This thread is not concerned with the tiny number of XY individuals who have Swyer syndrome or CAIS. They wouldn't be in the Olympics. But DSD males - XY - who produce male levels of testosterone can have an enormous advantage in women's sports - as we saw in the 800m in Rio, and are now likely observing in the Olympic boxing ring in Paris.
The IOC doesn’t have the power to do its own testing. Khelif is eligible to compete and nothing can be done about it during these Olympics.
BS. The IOC totally has the power to require and do sex testing. Particularly in he case of boxers at the Paris Games.
Due to allegations of corruption unrelated to the current brouhaha over the two apparently male fighters competing in women’s Olympic boxing, the IOC decided that the usual governing body for boxing - the International Boxing Association or IBA - shouldn't be in charge of boxing at/for the 2024 Games.
Instead, boxing at this year's Olympics are under governance of an ad-hoc unit of the IOC developed just for this year's Games called the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit.
Unfortunately, the IOC's Paris Boxing Unit and the overall IOC have failed, and refused, to set any meaningful eligibility standards for participation in women's boxing.
To be eligible to compete in women’s boxing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, all an athlete has to do is:
1) present a passport which says the athlete’s sex is female;
2) fill out, sign and submit an electronic document called "the Non-Pregnancy Declaration Form" before each bout;
3) meet the general medical standards that boxers of both sexes are held to - such as appearing to be in good health without any open wounds and with a normal gait, in other words not showing signs of being "punch drunk."
All this week, IOC officials have said verbally and in written statements again and again that the two reportedly male boxers being allowed to put up their dukes against female fighters in women’s matches at the Paris Olympics are “complying with the competition eligibility rules” solely because “they are women in their passports.”
IOC spokesmen have said that since the two apparently male DSD boxers’ passports state they are “Female” or “F,” then in the IOC’s view “they are female” - and it’s bad form and an objectionable affront for anyone to question that.
Earlier on this thread, I posted links to all the documents that the IOC has issued containing the Paris Box Unit’s rules and regulations for the 2024 Games.

So it's the Rio 800 all over again - except it's in boxing this time and the IOC has failed to ensure the sport involved is what it purports to be and protects the interests of women.
LOL. Look at the DSD athletes that we have seen. They are clearly men. Don't give me this BS that we can't tell. If we couldn't tell, then we wouldn't be pointing it out on here when it happens!
