1500m Aug 2: Rd 1, Aug 4: Semis, Aug 6: Finals 800m Aug 7: Rd 1, Aug 9: Semis, Aug 10: Finals
What's tough about the schedule if you want to do the 8/15 is that the final of the 1500 is at 8.50pm on the 6th and the 800m heats are at 11.55am the next morning - so well less than a 24 hour rest.
So the question is do you back yourself to make the final of the 1500 and potentially give up the 8 knowing the tightness of that turnaround, or do you just save it for the 800. Honestly the way Hobbs is running right now and the tools he has relative to each distance and his competitor set, I think his better event is the 800 and his better bet to pull a Clayton Murphy and get some hardware if it was going to happen.
Its always funny to hear track runners talk about "haters" as if this sport is big enough to have haters lmao, was she reading random youtube comments or browsing this forum?
Super emotional interviews from the 100 hurdles. I recommend everybody follow the stories of the women in that final. It's unbelievable what some of them have gone through and it's no wonder they are all crying. Probably the most cut-throat event out there.
could you elaborate on that? Only the 3rd place girl explained any real adversity (broken leg it sounds like). The other two did not
I was dead wrong on Hobbs. I thought he was good but not great coming into the trials but holy sh!t. If he can gain a little more aerobic strength (and he will) I can’t imagine what he is going to run in the 1500 with legit 1:43 speed (and maybe faster). He has more than lived up to the hype!
hobbs and top guys ran 11x mid high second 100m segment,
hoppel ran 11.5 second 100m and 12.6 final 100m, in the 142, which means the guy can run 141 high in the perfect race. so he is among the 800 favorites afterthe kenyan wonderboy. who may pop at any moment.
Wow, 12.37 wasn’t good enough to make the women’s 100m hurdles team. Keni Harrison’s 12.39 SB was only good enough for 6th. Stacked event.
One of the events where the US depth is greater than world final depth. Olympics should allow more than 3 athletes in certain events. Or take the top 15 world ranked athletes
A little late - but Mu is devastated. Some great breakup revenge from Brandon Miller. He can run fast, tactically that was a horrible race. Is Hobbs better at the 800m? We will find out. It will take a low low 1:42 or 1:41 to win the Olympics - I think Hoppel is do it!
The 800m is back in the USA!! We had some dead years there with Emmanuel Korir.
"Revenge" is uncalled for. You don't know what transpired. Congratulations to Miller.
