Not sure that was the real Josh Kerr. In the Swiss broadcast, the announcer said that "George" Kerr was pushing on the back straight before JI took off. Does Josh Kerr have a fast sibling or cousin?
Doesn't surprise me. Every time I hear Kerr's name I think of George Kerr, probably because I watch a lot of true crime shows. At least 4 of them have done episodes on the Alaska road rage/mail bomb case in which George Kerr turned in his friends as the road rage killers and then his father was killed by the mail bomb that was intended for George. I think George Kerr eventually fled the state and may have changed his name because he feared more retribution attempts.
Jakob really has to walk a razor's edge to win like this. He has to basically max himself every race to stay ahead of big kickers. The difference from 3:28 to 3:29 is nil. There are enough sub 3:30 guys right now that it just takes one small slip up, like we saw with Wightman
