If poor people bring something to the table they stop being poor.
I don’t think the top .1% bring anything extra to the table that justifies their massive gains in wealth. Of course there are skilled positions that are going to accrue a higher salary. Software engineer, doctor, quant, lawyer, etc., but I don’t think the Elon Musks and Jeff Bezoses of the world deserve to make a bajillion times more. The GDP seems to grow due to population growth and productivity growth, both of which are generated by regular workers. Bezos didn’t single handedly engineer the entire Amazon supply chain, but he gets paid like he did. I don’t think any single person is worth more than a few million a year. No human being provides more value than that.
The millions of people voluntarily giving them their money disagree with your statement.

Why would any decent human being want strangers teaching 6-8 year olds about sex of any kind??
Schools ARE teaching gender identity. You being ignorant about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
I couldn't care less about gay marriage. What people do in their private lives is their own business.
There's a difference between teaching about sex and acknowledging that someone could have 2 mothers or that a child shouldn't be ashamed of his or her (or their) 2 fathers holding hands.
I live in one of the most "liberal" areas in the country and no woke teacher taught my kids about sex. As they got older they might have been taught that people use different pronouns. All this does is open up dialogue between parents and their kids.
I made it through 20 years of school and I have no idea who any of my teachers were sleeping with.
Kids do not care.
If you need the validation of a pre-pubescent child to feel good about your own sexuality you have a mental disorder.

Woke K-12 teachers ranting about their leftist agendas are ubiquitous on social media, particularly the Twitter account "Libs of TikTok." As universities ram...
People gave it to them in exchange for their product/service or they invested in their companies because they saw its value and wanted to get in on it.
I fundamentally disagree with you that people aren't worth more than a few million a year.
People are not equal. Mike Tyson was a .1% boxer. Michael Jordan was a .1% basketball player. The Jeff Bezos's and Elon Musk's of the world are much much much more talented at what they do than anyone else. They didn't just fall into their billions.
I think you and many others have melded human worth with capitalistic worth. Some things are worth more to humanity than they are to a company. That’s why we have a government whose job it is to represent our interests.
Of course certain people are in the top .1% of whatever they do. That doesn’t mean that the top .1% deserve to be paid a bajillion times more than everyone else. I believe they deserve more money than a person in the 50th or 75th or 95th percentile, but I don’t think they deserve 1000 times more or whatever the number actually is. To think the Elon provides as much value to humanity as a million middle class workers (100 billion divided by 100 thousand) is ridiculous. He didn’t even cure cancer.
You're in luck. It appears Bezos is going to flush his own fortune down the toilet.

I agree with you. I don't recall any of my kids' teachers discussing their private lives with them and I never discussed my private life with my students. But why did you bring this up?
So you get off over claiming message board 'wins'? Are you even an Adult? That's really your first response? 'I Win?' Grow up.
I can read:
'Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.'
Because SOOOOOOO many schools are talking about gender identity in those grades!
It is a bill used by Desantis to get his name in the paper and stir up a response. Nothing more. He loves his own press. He does lots of wild and crazy things in order to position himself as some sort of Conservative Icon. He is a tool.
What do you think of gay marriage?
Alan
It is talked about in elementary schools and it is wrong. Hence the legislation. Glad to see boomers like you who support sexual orientation instruction in kindergarten.

I didn't bring the law up Alan did.
The law was intended to prevent teachers discussing their sex lives with children because they were doing it.
Florida was a swing state before DeSantis.
If the parents in Florida didn't agree with the bill DeSantis wouldn't have just won Florida by 20 points.
That's a wider margin than Democrat governors got in deep blue CA, IL, NY or Oregon.

Adult in the room; do you ever just exhaust yourself? I mean this Schtick you have going has got to take up 80% of your time. I can only troll this board for so long before I get bored. I mean coming in to any of these threads with an actual political opinion is really just a waste of time.
Therein is the issue. Nobody actually knows what the law says, or rather, it's not clear to teachers what they might lose their job over while trying to address very real problems some of their students are dealing with.
To paraphrase Dr Oz, teacher/student conversations regarding sexual orientation in Florida schools are "between the teacher, the student, and local political leaders".
It's the teacher's union's job to explain this to teachers. Instead they lie about what the law actually says to push their political agenda.
So the teacher's union explains that nobody knows specifically where the boundaries of the law are and we don't know when you're going to get you ass sued off and have your career ruined because some kid asked a difficult question and you as a teacher tried your best to deal with it.
The law makes a difficult situation worse and it does it so a bunch of self-righteous politician can pretend the did something helpful.
Imagine how delusional you have to be to not understand what a disaster this midterm was for the GQP and to take it a step further - embracing the Cheeto hued loser that is Trump. The former GOP does not exist. Trump killed the GOP. Say it slowly until that sinks in. And you spend a large portion of your day defending him while parroting "I am not a Republican"
Yep. He understands absolutely nothing. The fact that The House STILL hasn't been called for Republicans is insane. In a typical midterm, the minority party would have taken 25+ seats. Just a HUGE loss for Republicans to not be able to get the Senate back and are struggling to take back The House.
TAITR is insane to believe that there was ANY good news at all for the GOP in this election. Republicans were sh!tcanned.

Again with the weird assumptions. I don’t hate rich and successful people at all.
When will you all realize that change happens at the local level through community. Then will gain attention of state officials to authorize statewide change.
Most of you have never participated in your local/state legislative process and it shows. You're simply keyboard warriors that read a news headline but don't even bother to read the article.

If we aren’t In lockstep with the boards three ‘libertarians’ we are all green haired transgendered people

How many hours of TV do you watch every day?
How many hours do you spend looking at porn or Tik Tok?

Bro you said I shouldn't have the right to vote the last time you posted.
You're officially off the deep end of 'red wave' coping and seething. I.e. cannot fathom trying to win over genius minds like me... but rather would prefer to disenfranchise us. How democratic!
I have cast a vote for a libertarian presidential candidate. Have you?
Only a genius mind could come up with "pandemic of the unvaccinated".
Quite simply one of the greatest threads in LRC history. The perfect combination of high level scientific analyses and top-tier dunking on moronic antivaxxers
