I don't see Lauren Johnson listed as coach on the XC roster for Huntington. There is an interim coach.

The interim coach is their track coach. I believe this is his first year at HU

Also, I sincerely hope the school is blanketing the team with mental health resources. Rojo mentioned it in his initial post but this really feels like a situation that could result in suicides.

I want to believe this is actually something but with it being Huntington it's hard not to believe they didn't just remove them from the site for PR and are still letting them coach "unofficially"

Could have been easily initiated and written by one of the runners. If they have bought into the whole twisted mess, then nobody would need to guide them. They would be well-motivated to protect and defend their choices.

KEEP UP THE PRESSURE!!! Administrators that papered this over still need held to account. Keep sleuthing. Indiana peeps - keep your eyes and ears open to ensure that no shadow coaching and off-the-books activity is going on.

Given how it wasn’t written all that great and came out before the university would have had a chance to bring a publicist in, I would guess that it was definitely written by the athletes.

Yeah the athletes will still be encouraged to go to the Johnsons house for camaraderie purposes. You can get people fired and sue for lots of money, but you can’t stop a corrupt and naive institution from being corrupt and naive. They’ll probably just continue their little cult thing as quietly as they can.

After having time to seek counsel and digest the complaint, I can't fathom that the school would allow the accused anywhere near students or campus until a formal investigation is conducted.

What a doozie.

I see every possible outcome besides "pretend this isn't happening" as being potentially catastrophically bad for the athlete in the short-to-medium term (and of course "pretend this didn't happen" as bad in the long-term).

That poor girl. The intimate details in that police report and the content of her and her mom's interrogation... seems insanely cruel to have that out in the open. No father in the picture, groomer of a love interest, and now those intimate details extracted from a minor by law enforcement and broadcast to the public. I don't think I could ever trust anyone again.

They need to fire the people who hired Lauren Johnson as head coach immediately as well.

A complete house cleaning and disinfecting is needed. This is Penn State/Sandusky level stuff.
