Who cares about trolls who want to distract from the fact that not a single credible person heard a racial epithet or even anything unpleasant directed at the player. Surely Duke will conduct an investigation and USC will reinstate the home and home with BYU basketball? Surely an apology will be forthcoming to the mentally challenged dude who was directly accused by Duke of using racial slurs?

How about Fox News calling Rachel Richardson a liar? Surely she’ll want to defend her name, right?

There’s a huge cost to false allegations even if the media is desperately trying to ignore this story. This is why my default position is skepticism with these claims.

A criminal is someone who's been convicted of a crime...Brigham Young was never convicted of anything and most of the other's on your list were not practising Mormons...You're a nut job..

Mormon's are racists. BYU is a racist institution run by Mormons. BYU volleyball fans are racists willing to lie to support their fellow racists. Ditto racist Utah police officers. Any accuser of BYU is therefore telling the truth in its entirety. Those who demand corroborating facts are also racists. Also, Jesus was black.

1000 people heard nothing even though they were in the stands. One person who was 50 feet away on the court heard sonething. Imagine if a traffic accident occurs and there are 1000 witnesses but the guy who caused it claims that the other driver pulled out in front of him.

The civil rights movement has certainly reached that stage although with an 'and' not an 'or'.

Racket: folks such as Jesse Jackson have become pretty good at shaking down corporations.

Cult: The "diversity is strength" thing has become the tenet of a cult like secular religion.

Corporation: takeover of a lot of institutions and corporations is pretty complete.

Jussie Smollett shows all three in action: he wanted to up his standing in the cult and get his employer to give him a raise rather than cancel the show.

Maybe "Get Woke, Go Broke" will make some difference in push back, but I suspect Jussie's 'mugging', as well as the accusation in this thread, didn't work because it could be checked. You need to stay with things that are either true or can't be proven one way or the other.

That is a mischaracterization of how LRCers view these events. Most posters now realize this was a hoax started by the creepy godmother. And that J. Christ was black.

Actually, the truth is that Utah is the fraud capital of the world, has the highest felony drug abuse rate in the US, has produced a hugely disproportionate number of serial killers. Most of the crimes in Utah that we learn of are too big to hide. Most of the crimes in Utah are covered up by mormon cops and mormon prosecutors.

Let me get this straight. BYU conducts an investigation on itself and finds nothing.

Wow. The next time I'm accused if something, I will investigate myself and I will not find anything to corroborate or incriminate me.

A BYU investigation of itself is complete BS.

BYU isn't a person. It is like saying that a crime was committed in NYC and the NYPD investigates but you say that NYC is investigating itself.

That's ridiculous. A lot of organizations investigate things within the organization, and often they hire independent investigators (I'll bet BYU hired a few here). If this actually occurred, BYU is heavily invested in making sure it doesn't happen again. You think the school likes having these racism allegations hanging around? You think this is advancing BYU's mission, whatever that may be? Even when BYU comes to the conclusion that it's a hoax, I'll bet they put some things in place to prohibit the alleged conduct (even if it didn't happen) and to make it easier to determine if it does (more cameras, security, etc.)

You've made some good arguments to this point and while I may disagree with you on some of what you have said you certainly come across as someone worth hearing out. Thanks for that.

But to say that your default position is skepticism because Fox News wouldn't dare falsely allege something is either incredibly ignorant or ill-informed. They make stuff up all the time. All the time (most recently they face a billion dollar lawsuit from Dominion). The likes of Tucker and Hannity get off the hook because in court they tell judges that they are just entertainment and that nobody should see them as reporters.

So while I do enjoy reading an opposing take from someone who sounds sensible enough to listen to, this talking point hurts your credibility.
