Nah man, it wasn't the time that made it anti-climactic, it was that combined with the fact we did not see a race or even get updates about the race second hand as it was happening. They announced a race, told us last second when it started, didn't say anything for an hour, then told us the finish times. It was the least interesting way any race could be presented.
These are my exact same thoughts. The time is fine. No issues there, just that it was this hush hush event with just made up times people are posting then... It was over .. with 2 finishers...
As for OOPS whatever his name, I'm a pretty big Galen fan, I'm the hobby jogger who now owns a nice collection of the now defunct NOP gear. Probably worth a ton in the future.

I do want to point out that I'm not even writing that stuff as a Rupp fan. If you look back at my original post, I wasn't overly enthusiastic about Rupp, but I'm sure not going to bash the guy for running a 60:22. I am NOT a Rupp fanboy -- let's be honest... I find him kind of boring, I've only heard negative things from other high level American runners about his attitude towards them, and I definitely question what he was doing under Salazar. But, he showed earlier this year that when most of the field has the same shoes, he's still the best American male in the marathon by a a healthy margin. He's getting older and further from his track days, so if he's still running a 60:22 in a race with 1 other competitor while focused on marathoning and not at all on track, that doesn't damage his standing as American #1 marathoner in any way for me.

Cheater shoes or not, he just beat a 2:05 marathoner by 53 seconds with no one to run with and almost no fans, basically a hard tempo run. I bet that if they send him to a fast Euro half in the next few months, he'll get that record, though he'd have to crush it to have an intrinsically better performance. I also think that he's well on his way to an American record in the marathon (=2:05:41). With Tokyo (Sapporo) currently scheduled for early August, it's either an early year marathon or a fast one in spring 2022. Looks like he's ready to run 2:05.
