I didn't think the numbers were as high as this.

At current rates, combined Russian and Ukrainian casualties could reach 2 million by the spring of 2026. Centre for Strategic and International Studies estimate. The figures vary widely.

CSIS says that Russian battlefield fatalities in Ukraine were more than five times greater than all Russian and Soviet wars combined since the second world war. No major power has suffered anywhere near these numbers of casualties or fatalities in any war since World War II.

So sad. These numbers are shocking. For comparison, the U.K. suffered 750,000 military casualties during the six years of World War II.

I never thought I'd see war in Europe in my lifetime, but here we are.

The numbers are just so big. It's awful. The scale of this is just horrific.

I hope it ends soon so very much.
