Agreed, lots "...of people want to be college coaches as proven by this thread." That is not the point. You actually make that point well in the next sentence - schools want coaches with lots of experience and expect them to take the position with low wages.
The reason they can't find the "right" person is often exactly that - low wages and people within our profession may be starting to decline those offers and move out of the profession.
In absence of qualified candidates less experienced individuals take those positions - some of those inexperienced individuals take advantage of the opportunity and do well, but many falter ill-prepared for the realities of the job.
Like UCLA for example
Too early to tell about UCLA. Will Brosnan succeed or do well? Time will tell.
Was Brosnan the first choice? Did UCLA offer to one or more established collegiate coaches but with lowball offers and they were rejected?
If so, did they decide to attract the best qualified less experienced coaches who would jump at the chance despite a low pay?
Or did they actually provide for the current hire a great financial package?
Associate Head Coach Justin St. Clair has been named the interim head track and field coach for the 2022-23 season, Nebraska Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics

Key: Numbered answers below correspond to numbered questions above.
1) True. Time will tell
2) No
3) Yes
4) & 5) Don't know what kind of package the new distance guy got but do know that the former coaches received pauper's wages. Maybe the new guy got a good package maybe not. I suspect that an established coach didn't take the job because of what someone said earlier that Avery is on the hot seat so if he's replaced next year job security for assistants isn't great.
Interesting the former coach was pretty good imo I wonder where he went
Retired.
Lamonte Vaughn was already selected as the next head coach starting July 1. Why is there an ad for a head coach on August 5? He either decided to elsewhere or Grambling changed their minds.
