Robert Young fakes run across America

Can someone give me a brief summary of what has been going on here?

I understand that the situation is that the belief is that Robert Young hasn't been running but simply riding in an RV at "run speed". This is known because a guy showed up to run with him and couldn't find him, but the "tracker" showed him moving along. And that now someone else has shown up to actually watch him run? What's with the weird video in the gas station?

I don't know what the "tracker" is? How do people know where he is at? Is he just wearing a GPS watch and logging his data online? Isn't it pretty easy for someone to follow along on a bicycle and see if he's actually running 67 miles a day? Although, someone would need to be in the area and willing to give up a few days etc.

If I had to bet, I reckon he'll finish it legit and the cheating is already done. It may simply be too late at this point to prove he's cheated. The lack of evidence and all the other queries won't go away, regardless of what data he eventually posts (it's way too late for that now), but it could end up with there being nothing to prove he cheated.

I feel like we've already done that.

1) Guy drove up to RV in middle of night - he was nowhere to be seen.

2) After #1 happens and is made public, his pace instantly drops by 50%.

3) Surveillance video of RV going by Mr Gs doesn't show him running.

So we have a) an eyewtiness b) surveillance tape and c) statistics (miles per day greatly dropped). Case closed.

Forgive me if this has already been covered (rather than reading this whole thread, I slept in the back of an RV for pages 27-88), but what kind of tracking is the RV using?

If Bobby Y really did get into the RV to avoid being murdered and the RV then drove off, should there not be a record of them turning around a few minutes later and returning Bobby Y back to his original position?

Works For Me...However, I want to let everyone know it wasn't me driving Robbie! I was contacted for back up though.....

How will you feel when he is credited with a world record?

And to think, all this fuss for a guy who can't even break 3 hrs in a marathon.

If Scott Jurek did something like this I would run with him near Indianapolis, but world champion Rob Young?......pffffft.

There's no need to investigate that. They did return to nearly the same spot. Our accounts match up at that point. Only problem is he says he got back out and started running again. I say he got back in the RV and started riding again (That's what my 2:10am video says too).

Here's the tracker data for that time period (though it's in the RV, so clearly it'll match what you see in the video).

Tracker data for that day shows Rob's RV just started moving for the day at 10:02 CT. All times below in CT to match the video timezone.

10:02 - 10:14: 0.61mi

10:14 - 10:26: 2.10mi

10:26 - 10:38: 1.2mi *where the RV passes the store

10:38 - 10:50: 1.96mi

10:50 - 11:02: 2.01mi

It looks like that is through town, so I am guessing the 1.2 is due to a stoplight/stopsign? Either way, if that RV had a runner anywhere nearby, he should have been in that footage. Or, the guys in the RV are dicks and are driving away from their runner at a steady ~10mph and leaving him behind.

I don't think it is a runner I am seeing in the video. No way that person was going at the claimed pace over the 12 minute period that the tracker showed (remember the tracker is now on Rob and not in the RV). I think at best that walker would be covering 0.7 of a mile.

Speak for yourself about lack of productivity, Troll, some of us have run 150 miles a day on the treadmill since this thread started, un-assisted.

Oh c'mon Rojo, this guy is a fellow namesake of yours, give him a little more of a chance. Once he's had some more espressos and pancakes, I think we're all in for some incredible action in these coming days.

100 mile + days are just around the corner at sub 6:00 pace.

Not convinced? Just check the logs written by his support team, that'll show us everything.

Hey, I thought that position was offered to me! I guess I will keep my position here in Effingham. Being a deputy in Funkhouser obviously isn't as prestigious as here in Effingham. Over here, we don't just offer up deputy positions. You have to wait until the 2 deputies retire. We are thinking of doubling our police force next year to 4, but we have to pass a tax levee this November. Not sure if the other 3 families in town will want to pony up.

Has any thread grown this fast before? It's 129 pages already, I can't read through that. Even with the Rossi thread people could just read the LetsRun article and get the details - someone needs to write a summary.

There is no data. The SPOT is their track log and their proof. That's it.
