Separately, even talking about "cancelling" birthright citizenship is a bad move IMO. SCOTUS, even the current one, would shoot down any such attempt immediately, likely unanimously.I'm not a fan of birthright citizenship, which has far outlasted its original purpose of enfranchising former slaves, and I acknowledge that the issue is not as cut and dried as some would make it seem: There is a real question about whether POTUS and/or Congress would have the power to declare fraudulent the citizenship of children born in the United States while their mothers are here illegally. But the language of the 14th Amendment is plain.
What's needed is another amendment, cancelling or at least limiting birthright citizenship. If President Trump pushed for that, I think he'd get a lot of support for it. Mine, anyway.
