What is the average salary for a DIII head track coach? Or is there a website to help research salaries for college coaches?
Some places like Al and Grammy probably make over 100k, others are like 20k, just depends on how long you’ve been and how good you are

A good amount of D3 programs are private, so you aren’t going to find salaries of those online. I’d guess the median range is 45k-65k.

Appears UC Davis snuck Emma Peterson from Pepperdine right out from under UCLA ha! For the expectations of that position based on what they’re paying with no scholarships, they’re going to need someone straight out of college...bring Hanna Peterson back! She’s probably too good for them now though...
Definitely not Roberts job...heard they already had their top choice on campus and they’ve been top 4 at NCAA in XC

Very poor and misguided evaluation...be good at what you do, and network. Any head coaches worth their salary are paying attention to everyone they come in contact with, watching the athletes who show signs of good coaching, and keeping a list in the back of their minds for who they would go after if an assistant were to leave. My last hire would have ranked way down this list, but I sought him/her out because I could see the fruits of their labor. One of the best hires I’ve made. The key is to be seen, or be connected...so that a recommendation can get you looked at.....but don’t think for a second that just showing up to work and being “good enough” is gonna get you a job. You have to overachieve if you want to move up in the ranks.
Everyone knows Wetmore is an old time Oregon fan. Look for him and Heather to head to Eugene. Dave Smith to Colorado, and McGregor head coach at OSU.

Someone posted it is a dead end/bad job but how bad is it????? The did almost cut men’s and women’s track a few years ago.
Yeah UNC has had their #1 candidate on campus. It is Roberts. Nah I am just kidding no idea, but sounds like they are still looking.

The advice I have always received is that if you want a better chance at a D1 job, then stay in D1 at all costs. An applicant that has D1 experience on his resume at a recognizable school has a lot more clout than some of the random D3 schools I've seen. Remember that people doing the hiring want to know if you have recruiting experience AND they want to know if you are experienced balancing a scholarship allotment.
It's not a slight on coaching D3, I would never look down on a D3 coach. However, if you're looking for a good position at a D1 school, you're going to have to know how to scholarship athletes and recruit well. A lot of D3 programs don't recruit the same way a D1 school would. D1 is typically bigger talent, bigger budgets, bigger goals, and a lot more pressure to have success. You want to have experience COACHING at the level you want to stay at. I've seen a lot of resumes of D1 volunteers who move to D2 assistant, then maybe a D3 head coach. A lot of them end up having to volunteer in D1 again.
My advice: Find a coach that knows their stuff and is respected at the level you wish to make a career out of. Volunteer for them. People will look at that resume and go, "oh he worked under so and so, that's a solid pedigree." No two experiences are the same on a resume.
So if Grove -McD and Herbster are looking at it would they hire two coaches and get rid of Roberts? Has Grove coached men before? That post makes zero sense, no way do they hire Roberts over everything

If you take the time to look at results, its clear they havent accomplished enough to lead a whole TEAM of distance runners. Look up their conference XC results and top TFRRS performances and youll see
McGregor is a savvy young professional, who has had the Texas job in the bag for a while. He is extremely intelligent, cunning, manipulative and utilizing his manipulation capabilities to leverage an offer from UNC right now for a higher salary at Texas.
Mark my words, the young man isn't just a coach, he is a savvy businessman.

He was a distance coach, he did coach the fee throwers they had. I believe the administration told him they wanted him to go away from all field events though.
