Trump's meeting with the war criminal next week in Alaska appears to favour only the war criminal. Trump threatened further sanctions against Russia yet these appear to be only talk, not action. Nothing has come of them so far as far as I understand.

Trump suggested Ukraine would swap territory. Obviously this doesn't work in reality - Ukraine will never agree to giving up territory it already holds.

The war criminal gets more time to kill innocent Ukrainians. Any peace deal without Ukraine is not a legitimate peace deal.

How the tables have turned - the US used to be a leader on the global stage. Trump has shattered this aura.

The russians would never risk a war with NATO over putin. Putin is in his 70’s and already being hunted by the SBU, who have gotten very close to him already (blown up his limo).

Putin’s life actually depends on keeping this war going. Should he end this war without something tangible to present to the russian public but more importantly the russian elite, his body will be swaying in the breeze within a week. Russia has already been nationalizing major industries this year- literal self cannibalization by stealing companies, turning billionaries into poor people overnight, in order to keep the defense budget afloat.

Right now all he has is well over a million russian casualties, the absolute gutting of russia’s currency reserves, widespread inflation and economic despair, multiple collapsing industries, and a small amount of land to add to what is already the largest countries on earth.

Ukraine could collapse tommorow and this would be a loss for Russia. The insurgency alone (with drones) would make Afghanistan look like a girl scout camp. Not only that, but now all of europe is pouring hundreds of billions into anti-russia defensive lines, larger militaries, and partnerships with Ukrainian defense companies to learn from the best. NATO is also preparing to invade russia if neccesary.

No matter how this ends, russia lost. BIGLY!

And no Wagner didn't capture Moscow they seized a city 1,000 miles from Moscow and then started moving towards Moscow and within like a month their leader was dead and Wagner ceased to exist as a fighting unit.

The only question for the summit between Trump and Putin is how many more times Trump will let Putin humiliate him on the world stage before Trump actually does something to stop Putin. Putin is just trolling Trump at this point. Putin may have at one time believed that Trump would be willing to force Zelensky into a deal to give up all of the four oblasts that Putin wants and have Ukraine agree to disarm and be a sitting duck for the next invasion. But Trump failed to deliver because TACO. Thanks to Melania, Trump has now realized that Putin has just been playing him and is now trying to put some pressure on Putin by raising tariffs on India for buying Russian oil. But China has responded by shifting its purchases from the Saudis to Russia. On the battlefield, Putin is going all in on the eastern front around Pokrovsk in order to try and take all of Donetsk Oblast. This is a consistent pattern with Russia. Whenever they claim to be seeking a peace summit, they ramp up their military to take advantage of any expectation that fighting may come to an end.

The US is never going to join the war. Putin knows this.

If Ukraine is unwilling to make concessions (Zelensky has already said he won't) then the US is simply going to cut the chord and walk away.

And EVERY nation on earth would ramp up their military ahead of the negotiated end of a conflict because the more territory you have the more leverage you have at the negotiating table.

The Korean war raged on for 2 years longer than it should have because both sides were committed to this tactic. Armistice talks started in 1951, but each side took turns launching major offensives thinking that success on the battlefield would give them leverage at the negotiating table. Neither side saw either and the war was a virtual stalemate from 1951-53.

Russia does this because Russians think that they can use peace talks as a way to gain advantage on the battlefield. They use cease fires to get time to rebuild and equip forces. They use peace negotiations to lull the other side into believing that the conflict will end soon only to then launch a major offensive.

Why did Trump promise that he would do it? Could it be because he is a complete fool?

Zelensky cannot legally unilaterally cede Ukrainian territory under the country's constitution. He would need to have Ukrainians amend the constitution before he could agree to give up territory to Russia. He can agree to an armistice that stops fighting and establishes a demilitarized zone along the current line of contact without agreeing to recognize Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk as being part of Russia. He can also agree that Ukraine will not join NATO. If Russia's goals in the war were anything but the beginning of a conquest to retake former Soviet satellites and launch an all out war on western Europe, it would take that deal in exchange for lifting of sanctions.
